About the Role:


Our Finance team is growing. We're looking for a motivated, and analytical Director of Accounting to manage the general accounting and payroll areas for our Indian Subsidiary based in Chennai, India. You will oversee our growing team of staff accountants, produce financial statements, and manage variance analysis. You’ll be reviewing and closing the books. You will also manage the Administrative and Facilities teams in the Indian Subsidiary.
Our perfect candidate will be detail-oriented and process-driven, with an analytical eye and the ability to see the big picture. You have the drive and flexibility to thrive in our fast-paced environment and will have international experience closing books across multiple entities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees Accounting operations, which include financial accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Recruits and hires the accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff.
  • Oversees the system of internal controls over the accounting functions to minimize risk.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Hires and manages the facilities staff at all the locations within India.

Other Responsibilities

  • Accounting: Manage all aspects of accounting, including financial reporting via NetSuite, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and taxation. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Demonstrate expertise in both US GAAP and Indian Accounting Standards, ensuring compliance and best practices in financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, monitoring, and analyzing financial performance against goals, and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Treasury: Manage treasury functions, including cash flow management, investment strategies, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and minimize financial risk.
  • Billing and Collections: Drive timely, accurate billing processes and ensure Accounts Receivables remain within limits by ensuring timely collections
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and mitigation of financial risks.
  • Transfer Pricing: Implement and oversee transfer pricing arrangements to optimize the company's tax structure.
  • Auditing: Oversee the annual financial audit process, ensuring transparency and adherence to audit requirements.
  • Taxation & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards (e.g.TDS, GST etc.). Stay updated on changes in accounting and tax laws, adapting policies and procedures as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage the Payroll function to ensure timely payments to employees and government entities.
  • Purchasing: manage the purchasing process for the Indian subsidiary
  • Facilities: be responsible for the facilities and manage the team that maintains the facilities for thee Indian Subsidiary.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team. Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team capabilities and drive professional growth.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's / Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA certification is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with leadership skills, in the IT / ITES sectors with India, US entities
  • Deep understanding of Indian accounting and US GAAP.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite, with ability to plan, report and analyze finances, utilizing ERP functionalities.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven track record of working with teams across functions and geographies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
