The Senior Principal Data Reliability Engineer (DBRE) at Saviynt is a pivotal leadership role focused on ensuring the reliability, performance, availability, and scalability of mission-critical data platforms. This position blends deep expertise in software and systems engineering to architect, build, and operate robust, fault-tolerant database solutions, driving an automation- and AI-first mindset across the organization

Oversee the reliability, performance, availability, and scalability of Saviynt’s data platforms, including relational databases (MySQL), search engines (Elasticsearch) and data lakes.
Architect, design, and implement solutions leveraging a variety of database technologies, ensuring they meet business goals and industry best practices. This includes implementing strategies for data migration (e.g., AWS DMS), mirroring, replication, and clustering for high availability and disaster recovery.
Drive the technical strategy for major projects, aligning with business objectives and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance productivity and reliability.
Promote and implement reliability practices such as chaos engineering, SLOs (Service Level Objectives), error budgets, and disaster recovery strategies. Build advanced observability and monitoring systems to guarantee high availability and performance, focusing on SLA and availability metrics.
Lead the adoption of automation and AI-driven approaches for operational tasks, monitoring, and incident response to minimize toil and improve efficiency.
Work closely with Security, Architecture, Operations, and Product Management teams to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all database systems and coach the organization on DBRE principles, including incident response, automation, and observability improvements
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- 13+ years as a production DBA or DBRE, with proven hands-on experience in MySQL (required), plus exposure to PostgreSQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Redis, and cloud-based analytics services like Amazon Athena.
- Technical Skills: Scripting and automation (Python, Go, PowerShell, Infrastructure as Code) Cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization, microservices
- Building telemetry and observability with tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, or the LGTM stack
- Certifications: At least one certification in a relational database platform (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Elasticsearch); cloud-based MySQL certifications are a plus
