India is bullish on electric vehicles, as their use and expansion can help the country meet its climate goals in the coming years. Recently, Chennai-based MOOEV secured ₹4 crore, or around $475,000, to improve electric vehicle technology for large trucks.
Founded in 2021, MOOEV engineers systems that help companies with large fleets transition to electric heavy-duty vehicles. For example, it provides fleet management software that monitors charging and battery usage. Additionally, it helps clients service and care for their electric batteries to keep their vehicles running in top shape. Most importantly, the company provides cost-effective solutions for clients to incorporate long-haul and freight EVs into their existing fleets.
With the new funding, MOOEV plans to deploy 15 heavy-duty electric vehicles and expand its charging infrastructure to support other eclectic vehicles.
MOOEV’s solutions aim to reduce emissions caused by heavy-duty vehicles, which account for 70 percent of all vehicle particulate emissions in India. Heavy-duty electric vehicles have struggled to gain traction despite not producing any emissions, as towing capabilities still lag behind their non-electric counterparts.
