The Analyst QA will develop test strategies for ETL processes, create test cases, validate data accuracy, and automate tests. Collaboration with business and development teams is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand business and data requirements to develop effective test strategies and test plans for ETL processes.
- Design, develop, and execute ETL test cases, SQL queries, and test scripts for data validation.
- Perform data completeness, transformation, and reconciliation testing to ensure data accuracy across various systems.
- Validate data mapping, schema changes, and data load processes in the data warehouse.
- Identify, document, and track defects using JIRA / HP ALM / any other defect tracking tool.
- Work closely with the development and business teams to resolve data discrepancies and issues.
- Perform performance testing to analyze ETL job execution time and improve efficiency.
- Automate ETL test scripts using tools like Python, Selenium, or any other automation framework.
Required Skills:
- Strong SQL skills - Ability to write and optimize complex queries for data validation.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, DataStage, SSIS, or others.
- Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and relational databases (Vertica, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Experience in ETL testing methodologies - Data completeness, correctness, transformation, and reconciliation testing.
- Hands-on experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau for report validation.
- Familiarity with defect tracking tools (JIRA, HP ALM, Bugzilla, etc.).
- Basic understanding of Big Data and Cloud platforms (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Selenium with Java) for test automation is desirable.
- Experience in working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- ETL Testing certification (if any) is a plus.
- Experience in automation testing for ETL workflows.
