Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst - Assistant Vice President

Develop and support complex applications and data platforms through analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support. Build scalable batch and streaming pipelines using Scala, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Python, and Ab Initio. Design REST APIs, migrate workloads, implement CI/CD practices, recommend security measures, troubleshoot complex issues, advise stakeholders, and mentor junior analysts.
The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
- Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
- Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
- Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems
- Good experience in Hadoop Big Data Hadoop centric schedulers
- Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
Qualifications:
- 7 years of relevant experience
- Experience in Big Data Engineering Using Scala or Java Python to have Designing and developing scala related data pipelines and REST API
- Deep knowledge in Spark and Scala API experience required
- Good experience in Hadoop Big Data Hadoop centric schedulers
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
- Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
- Hands-on Ab Initio experience (graphs, plans, PDL, DML) and a track record designing and developing ETL pipelines/services. Experience in Migrating from Abinitio to Python workloads
- Strong with data processing at scale both file based and streaming pipelines with Kafka Integration
- CI/CD expertise: Git-based workflows, automated testing, artifact/version management, environment promotion.
- Practical use of AI engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, code assistants/agents) in daily development and reviews.
- Excellent communication—clear, concise, audience-appropriate; strong stakeholder management.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
