Assistant Controller

As Assistant Controller, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. You’ll manage the day-to-day accounting function, assist in financial reporting and drive process improvements to support our continued growth.
This role reports to the Director of Finance and plays a key part in strengthening internal controls, maintaining compliance, and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
What Success Looks Like:
Here’s how your time might break down (actual time can shift depending on business needs):
- Accounting Operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day execution of AP, AR, and GL
- Month-End Close & Reporting: Accuracy, timeliness and compliance with GAAP
- Process Improvement: Drive automation, scale and policy enhancements
How you’ll be measured:
- Oversee and participate in daily accounting activities (AP, AR, journal entries, GL)
- Lead the month-end close process including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies in line with GAAP
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Ops, Lending, Legal, and Executive teams
- Support strategic initiatives such as ERP improvements and audit prep

What You’ve Done Before:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- CPA required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting, including 3+ years in a similar role
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Bonus: Experience in banking, lending or financial services
Tools and Expertise You’ll Bring:
- Strong command of GAAP and internal controls
- Proven ability to lead audits and collaborate with external auditors
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and ERP systems
- Familiarity with building and scaling accounting processes in growth environments

Step 3: Hiring Manager Interview (1 hour)
A deeper discussion about the role, your relevant experience and how you’d contribute to the team.
Step 4: Final Interview or Leadership Chat (45 minutes)
A final conversation with senior leadership or cross-functional team members to ensure alignment with our mission and values.
Step 5: Offer & Background Check
If it’s a mutual fit, we’ll move forward with a background check and present a competitive offer. We aim to complete this process within 2–3 weeks from your first conversation with us.
