Job Overview:
The Associate Project Controls Specialist is responsible for utilizing existing Project Controls procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Project Controls.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of Project Controls deliverables, including cost reports, forecasts, schedules, and variance analyses
• Support the processing and documentation of change orders, ensuring timely and accurate integration into project budgets and forecasts
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of cost forecast worksheets and tools, ensuring alignment with project execution plans and financial objectives
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring alignment with project execution plans
• Assist in the preparation of project cash flow models and updates, supporting financial planning and risk mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with Project Leads and Functional Managers to support weekly and monthly reporting cycles, including progress tracking, schedule updates, change estimate reviews, time charging, and staffing plan updates
• Consolidate and validate data from multiple disciplines and functions to support integrated project reporting
• Analyze budget, cost, schedule, and change management data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Utilize Project Controls tools and spreadsheets to support data analysis, reporting, and visualization
• Support the setup and maintenance of project controls databases and dashboards
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and Project Management, to ensure alignment of cost and schedule data
• Participate in internal reviews and meetings to support project forecasting and performance discussions
• Develop an understanding of contractual requirements and invoicing processes to support compliance and financial accuracy
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical or business discipline
• Up to two (2) years of relevant experience in Project Controls, Cost Engineering, or project support roles (internships or co-op experience considered)
• Foundational knowledge of project controls principles, including cost control, forecasting, scheduling, estimating, change management and variance analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
• Fluent in English with effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
• Proficiency in general office productivity tools, particularly spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software
• Willingness to learn and grow within a global EPCI organization, with potential for international project exposure
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
