CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF CONCEPT NOTES FOR GRANTS

THEME: ENDING GENDER BASED VIOLENCE FOR INCREASED WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP

The Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF) is a national organization that works across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The organization is a nonpartisan organization. NWTF runs with a vision of a Nigeria where women and men engage equally in governance leading to National Development

The ideals of NWTF are woven around the principles of inclusion, equity, favourable political environment, and the absence of gender-based discrimination and violence. Towards the advancement of the above, NWTF seeks to support women groups and institutions at the national, state and across communities in Nigeria to empower them to rise above all barriers and be able to demand for their human rights, participate fully in governance and strengthen Nigeria's democratic process. 

The overall goal of the call for the submission of concept notes is to strengthen women’s leadership through support to institutions with potential to be active stakeholders in the strengthening of women’s voices and leadership and to reduce the barrier that women face by supporting sensitization efforts aimed at ending gender based violence.

Objectives:

1.       To provide institutional strengthening support to women led and women focused organizations

2.       To increase awareness through sensitization on the need to end gender-based violence

3.      To increase the number of women led and women focused organizations that are working on women’s leadership.

4.      To strengthen women’s voices on women’s rights issues.

Thematic Areas of Grant Call

a.      Institutional strengthening of women led and women focused organizations.

b.      Sensitization on ending gender-based violence as a barrier to women’s leadership   

c.       Research on topical issues that can lead to policy recommendation and advisory around gender-based violence and women’s leadership

NWTF invites women led and women focused non-governmental organizations organizations, community-based organizations (CBOs), academic institutions, media and individual women and young women networks and initiatives across Nigeria to submit concept notes on any of the three areas of focus listed above.  



Requirements

Deadline for Submission of Concept Notes:  

15 June 2022. All concept notes must be submitted to: [email protected].

Eligibility Criteria for Organizations Submitting Concept Notes

·         Must be a gender-focused organization and have most of its staff and board being women

·         Must have been in existence for at least 2 years

·         Must demonstrate the necessary organizational structures for effective implementation of the project.

·         Must be a local Non- Governmental Organization (NGO)/Community Based Organization (CBO) registered and based in Nigeria.

·         Must have an appreciable administrative, financial, human resource and information management system to properly account for funds received.

·         Must be capable of reporting back on the outcomes of the project

·         Proposed projects should be innovative, have objectives that are sound and well-thought-out, and clearly indicate the target audience.

NWTF Diversity and inclusion clause

The Nigerian Women Trust Fund recognizes the values of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and every area of nation building, while working cooperatively toward achieving a work environment that reflects the interests of a diverse people, we also hold our partners to a standard that values diversity and inclusion.

All grant concept notes received will be reviewed based on the criteria and in addition according to program needs, NWTF Diversity and inclusion clause and funding availability. Only applicants whose concept notes have been shortlisted will be invited to move on to the next stage of submitting full proposals.  Applicants who have applied previously and whose area of interest falls within the thematic focus above are encouraged to apply.

Please note that NWTF will not shortlist any concept note that focuses on funding political parties or campaigns; government agencies; scholarships; for-profit initiatives and projects aimed at religious conversion. Young women, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with organizations working in hard-to-reach areas are particularly strongly encouraged to apply.

Categories of Grant

Category A: N2,500, 000 – N4, 500,000

This is targeted at community-based organizations that are active and with evidence of project work in the last 2 years who require institutional strengthening and focused on support for research on topical issues affecting women and girls from a gender perspective, women’s rights, women’s leadership and participation at community, state, and national levels

Category B: N5,000,000 – N7,500,000

This is targeted at civil society organizations, Media organizations focused on community mobilization to end gender-based violence around women’s leadership.

Duration of the grant project: 6 -12 –months
