Join us as a Controls Testing CoE Lead
- In this role, you’ll be responsible for controls testing across Retail, Wealth, Commercial & Institutional, Ring-Fenced Bank, and Digital X businesses
- You’ll take ownership of the testing of technology controls owned by the Chief Digital Information Officers (CDIOs) and Heads of Technology as well as security and infrastructure related controls owned by the Chief Information Technology (CTO) organisation
- We’ll look to you to lead on the India Hub risk and controls agenda, ensuring that strategic and material risks are proactively managed, leveraging the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework (EWRMF) and working in partnership with senior management and their teams

What you'll do
This is an opportunity for an established leader to provide leadership to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, motivating your team to achieve objectives. We’ll look to you to oversee the strategic design of the Controls Testing CoE and its deliverables, leading various other projects and collaborating closely with other functions to ensure the alignment to the organisation's risk and control strategy.
You’ll design and implement an effective and sustainable control testing capability that executes to the requirements of the EWRMF, and you’ll identify opportunities to optimise the approach to controls testing, driving efficiency whilst maintaining quality of outcomes and deliverables. You’ll also identify potential areas of read-across to other areas of the bank, ensuring these are handed off to the relevant business to progress.
In addition to this, you’ll:
- Leverage technology to drive continuous innovative approach to controls testing
- Leverage the work done on testing to provide insights that drive improvement in the overall control environment, identifying opportunities for automation of controls
- Ensure the material risks in the India Hub have cost effective key controls and the risk profile is monitored through KPIs and remedial activities tracked on an ongoing basis
- Build strong stakeholder relationships with service recipient organisations and business areas including a mechanism for continuous feedback to drive ongoing service improvement
- Deliver against the financial plan and budget, including forecasting resource allocation, prioritisation, headcount and employee costs
- Lead, manage, and develop direct reports and ensure the professional capability of the wider team meets bank and customer needs
The skills you'll need
To excel in this role, you’ll have knowledge and experience of risk management and control processes, appropriate to a banking and financial services environment. Experience of automating controls testing including optimisation would be beneficial.
In addition, you’ll have:
- Leaderships skills with experience of managing large diverse teams that cut across multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent thought leadership
- In-depth understanding of the technology control environment covering application, infrastructure, security, and expected controls
- The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and develop effective relationships across the business as a service provider to multiple franchises
