Job Summary

LookML role, or Looker Developer, job typically involves designing, developing, and maintaining LookML models, dashboards, and reports to deliver actionable insights and analytical solutions using the Looker platform.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and Develop LookML Models:

Create and maintain LookML models that define the data structure and business rules for analysis. 

• Build Looker Dashboards and Reports:

Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Looker's visualization capabilities. 

• Collaborate with Stakeholders:

Work closely with business users and other teams to understand their needs and translate them into effective data solutions. 

• Optimize Performance:

Implement best practices for LookML performance, including caching and data modeling techniques. 

• Manage Code Changes:

Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage LookML code and ensure efficient collaboration. 

• Validate Data:

Ensure data accuracy and consistency by validating data using Looker's SQL Runner. 

• Integrate with Other Tools:

Integrate Looker with other tools and platforms for comprehensive data visualization and analysis. 

• Provide Technical Expertise:

Offer technical guidance on Looker best practices, data modeling, and architecture. 

• Stay Updated:

Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in Looker, SQL, and related technologies. 

Required Skills:

• Strong SQL Skills: Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries is essential for working with LookML. 
• LookML Expertise: A solid understanding of LookML syntax, data modeling concepts, and best practices. 
• Data Modeling: Experience with data warehousing platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift. 
• Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights. 
• ETL Experience: Familiarity with ETL tools and processes. 
• Version Control: Experience with version control systems like Git. 
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with stakeholders
