Job title: Data Analyst

At Poshmark, our analytics team is at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives and operational excellence through data-driven insights. As a data analyst, you will play a pivotal role in this mission, leveraging your expertise in data analysis and statistical modeling to uncover trends, inform product enhancements, optimize user experiences, and contribute to our overarching business objectives. 

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive analytical initiatives to bring value out of data for Poshmark and its community of shoppers and sellers. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a data-driven environment within the dynamic landscape of social e-commerce.

Responsibilities:

This role will be focused on providing analytics support and data insights to major business operations areas at Poshmark.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions

  • Provide data-driven insights that lead to actionable business recommendations in a simple, clear, and compelling manner

  • Monitor existing metrics, analyze data, and partner with stakeholders and team members to identify opportunities for improvement

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and insights

  • Analyze data related to our product and user behavior to identify opportunities for improvement. Assist product managers on designing experiments, key metrics and hypothesis testing

  • Conduct A/B tests to determine the impact of proposed changes to our product/features through quantitative analysis

  • Develop new or improve existing key metrics and performance indicators to evaluate business performance. Collaborate with the data engineering team to put the necessary data collection into practice

  • Think and work independently, demonstrate creativity, and deliver quick results while demonstrating a team-player attitude

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams; learn and apply best practices from other teams

  • Maintain required documentation and code base to ensure inventory of all key findings is readily accessible

  • Always strive for high-quality deliverables by performing extensive QA to ensure the accuracy and consistency of final data
     

6-Month Accomplishments: 

  • Learn about Poshmark's platform and operations: Get acquainted with our key business stakeholders, data, goals, KPIs, and how they relate to Poshmark's overall business

  • Gain expertise in Poshmark's internal data systems and platforms, as well as their respective use cases

  • Contribute to projects by working on analysis and investigations with assistance from your manager and the broader team

  • Ensure built-in time and processes for reviewing data and insights

  • Provide input and recommendations to achieve project goals
     

12+ Month Accomplishments:

  • Take on projects with increasing independence, with support from manager wherever required

  • Develop insight and knowledge of long-term trends and factors influencing the business and our operations

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead discussions and present data-driven analysis to business stakeholders and partners

  • Become a subject matter expert in your domain with the ability to answer queries and provide guidance to stakeholders

  • Mentor colleagues and data analysts on the team

  • Conducting data analysis to provide data-driven recommendations and insights to support decision-making processes
     

Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 1 - 3 years of work experience in the field of analytics 

  • Strong data mining skills using SQL with proficiency in Excel. Exposure and familiarity with Python, R, and Spark SQL preferred

  • Good understanding of data modeling concept and partnering on building new data warehouse tables

  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting

  • Experience with data visualization through Looker (or similar tool) is preferred

  • Knowledge of basic statistical concepts with emphasis on statistical hypothesis testing (t-tests, z-tests, etc.). Experience with A/B and multivariate testing is preferred

  • Expert in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, with strong storytelling and presentation skills

  • Ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand

  • Strong business acumen with aptitude to apply it critically towards solving problems

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to break down complex problems and solve it from first principles

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
