Job Summary

Responsible for designing, building and overseeing the deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions and software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources. Establishes and builds processes and structures based on business and technical requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route appropriately and store using any combination of distributed (cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage forms as required. Develops technical tools and programming that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize and transform data and to maintain, defend and update data structures and integrity on an automated basis. Creates and establishes design standards and assurance processes for software, systems and applications development to ensure compatibility and operability of data connections, flows and storage requirements. Reviews internal and external business and product requirements for data operations and activity and suggests changes and upgrades to systems and storage to accommodate ongoing needs. Work with data modelers/analysts to understand the business problems they are trying to solve then create or augment data assets to feed their analysis. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Responsibilities:

The Data Engineer will work within a geographically disperse operations team that seeks continuous improvement for NBCUniversal analytics and business intelligence technologies.  As the flood of digital information increases, the Data Engineer in this role will be responsible for connecting multiple open and closed sourced systems and transitioning raw data to predictive information for partners across broadcast (cable, news, and sports networks), film studios, and world-renowned theme parks.  In the Data Engineer role, you will be working with internal stakeholders, data engineers, visualization experts, data scientists, and other technologists across the business.   • Maintain a 24/7 operational resiliency across data pipelines.
  • Seek continuous improvement of operations by automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Deliver services that meet internal KPIs and customer SLAs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to remediate cyber alerts in custom code and infrastructure.
  • Ensure operational policies and standards are followed across the organization.
  • Interface with other technology teams to leverage cloud-native data engineering principles to maintain high quality data faster.
  • Foster a DevOps culture and participate in development sprints, retrospectives, releases, and deployments.
  • Build and manage relationships to optimize value creation from ideation to delivery and maintenance. 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a data engineering role
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Bash Scripting, and Informatica
  • Experience with AWS, Airflow, Snowflake, Docker, and GitHub
  • Experience with Snyk, Prisma, Wiz, and Qualys
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile Methodologies
  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development and CI/CD
  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles 
  • General understanding of cloud data engineering design patterns and use cases
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or related field.
