This role is critical for overseeing the successful delivery of the data roadmap's portfolio of work. You will maintain strategic oversight of corporate projects while providing expert project and delivery management for local initiatives and Business As Usual (BAU) activities.

Combining profound data and analytics subject matter expertise with exceptional project and delivery management skills, you will ensure the seamless coordination and impactful delivery of our data roadmap, navigating the complexities of a large, global organisation.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

This includes proactively identifying, prioritising, and harmonising key business objectives and challenges to ensure alignment with our global data strategy.
  • Centralised Data Initiative Oversight: Establish and maintain a comprehensive, single view of all data initiatives within a consolidated roadmap, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment across the organisation.
  • Strategic Data Engagement: Actively promote and embed best practices in data, reporting, and analytics. This involves engaging extensively with stakeholders to explain complex concepts, review existing approaches, and collaboratively agree on optimal data methodologies and strategies.
  • Proactive Risk & Conflict Management: Monitor and track project progress meticulously, with a keen focus on the proactive identification and management of risks, issues, and dependencies. Crucially, this includes the ability to anticipate and skilfully navigate potential stakeholder conflicts, escalating to appropriate governance forums and driving the identification and implementation of effective solutions and mitigations.
  • Operating Model Transformation: Provide strong leadership in shaping and executing the delivery of operating model changes, fostering a more agile working environment. This encompasses contributing to team development and adhering to local governance requirements.
  • Project Assurance & Quality Control: Contribute to robust project assurance and provide oversight for BAU projects and workstreams involving data, ensuring high standards are consistently met.
  • Data Governance & Excellence: Lead initiatives to significantly enhance data quality, integrity, and governance practices, upholding and elevating a consistently high standard of analytics excellence throughout the business.
  • Line Management: Provide effective line management, fostering growth and development within the team.
  • Product Ownership: Drive product development and assume ownership for relevant data products/solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional Stakeholder Management & Communication:
  • A proven, outstanding ability to engage, influence, and manage a diverse range of stakeholders across multiple departments, senior leadership, and geographical locations within a complex global business.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex ideas persuasively and concisely to audiences of varying technical understanding, from technical specialists to executive leadership.
  • Strategic Prioritisation & Conflict Resolution:
    • Demonstrable expertise in setting, re-prioritising, and managing multiple competing demands from various global business units, always aligning with strategic objectives.
    • A strong track record of proactively identifying, mediating, and effectively resolving potential stakeholder conflicts to ensure project progress and optimal business outcomes. This capability is absolutely essential for the role.
  • Robust Project & Delivery Management:
    • A proven track record of successful change delivery and/or project management, underpinned by a solid understanding and application of project management principles and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
    • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and deliver against challenging deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Data & Analytics Acumen:
    • Familiarity with a broad range of data & analytics disciplines (e.g., business intelligence & analytics, data architecture, data engineering, data science), coupled with a genuine passion for leveraging data to drive tangible business improvements.
    • Adeptness at collaborating effectively with both business and technical teams to translate requirements into deliverable data and insights solutions.
  • Influential Leadership & Relationship Building:
    • Skilled at building and nurturing robust, collaborative relationships and partnering effectively with business leaders to instigate and drive positive change across the entire organisation.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
