Job Summary

Comcast is seeking a Software Development Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of software applications, with a focus on backend and full-stack solutions. This position will involve developing applications that support large-scale device management solutions within the video and broadband services. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Python, particularly Django, and other backend frameworks, while also being open to applying general AI techniques to enhance application performance and automation.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop backend applications using Python and frameworks like Django for building scalable and maintainable web applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop backend services, integrating them with frontend applications and external systems.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation using MySQL and Document DB.
• Develop RESTful APIs and support integration with cloud-based systems and other backend services.
• Leverage AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Athena, and API Gateway to implement cloud-based backend solutions.
• Build application components using industry-standard libraries and tools, while ensuring clean and maintainable code.
• Contribute to full-stack development efforts, collaborating with frontend engineers to integrate user-facing applications.
• Support automation and continuous integration by implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Troubleshoot and debug technical issues across backend services, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in backend development and general AI for enhancing application functionality.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices in software development, including writing efficient and maintainable code.

Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

Key requirements and experience include:

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in application development and backend engineering.
• Strong experience with Python, particularly with frameworks like Django, Flask, or similar for web development.
• Solid SQL skills, with experience working with MySQL and Document DB.
• Experience in developing RESTful APIs and integrating backend services with cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services such as Lambda, S3, Athena, and API Gateway for building cloud-based solutions.
• Familiarity with general AI concepts (such as automation, machine learning models, or data processing) is a plus.
• Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a bonus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in complex systems.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and best practices in software development.
• Experience using version control systems like Git and working within collaborative development environments.
