Position available with Universal Media, LLC in CIEC (Comcast India Engineering Center) as a Software Engineer (Backend). Provide backend software development as part of an Agile Scrum team in the LPS Engineering group within Corporate Technology at Universal. This includes participating in project implementation design and development activities to support the successful business adoption of the new solution, and the ongoing production support and enhancement post go-live. This role requires a strong understanding of frontend software development principles and proven experience in design and delivery of high-quality user interfaces that meet overall business requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform backend software development activities based out of CIEC in close coordination with the Agile development team members in the U.S. and the CIEC
Pragmatically implement technically sound solutions according to technical designs
Engage as part of an Agile scrum software development team, contributing to scrum ceremonies and collaborating with product owners and other engineers
Identify and communicate risks and key decisions in a timely manner
Update architectural diagrams, runbooks, and documentation to support the team
Ensure unit testing coverage is sufficient to provide a quality user experience
Collaborate and engage with teammates, learn from Sr. Software Engineers
Willingness to work off business hours and weekends as required for production support when issues arise
Foster a culture of excellence within the development team by engaging in code reviews and adhering to best practices in team standards
Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis and remediate with some support from Sr. Engineers
Solicit feedback and iteratively enhance the product
Implement Infrastructure as Code according to established patterns, improving as you implement
Maintain the ORM and Data Access Layer
Implement and maintain RESTful services in AWS
Implement batch services to handle scheduled and event-driven tasks
Qualifications

Technical Skills

Education focus degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus, or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Experience as a Software Engineer (Backend) in more than 4 projects, with
5+ years of backend software development hands-on experience.
Experience in backend and middleware solutions and familiarity with topics such as API, compute, queueing, message streaming, application-level networking, and security
Proficiency in Typescript and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with familiarity with design principles such as SOLID, YAGNI, DRY, etc.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and ability to solve technical problems
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and automated release management required (AWS CDK or CloudFormation a plus)
Familiarity with relational databases: querying, basic administration, development, etc. (PostgreSQL preferred)
Familiarity with a Publcdkic Cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
AWS certifications are a big plus
Tool and Methodology Proficiency

Proficiency with Git tooling required (GitHub preferred)
Proficiency with VS Code preferred (adaptability and willingness to use VS Code required)
Proficiency working with REST APIs and understanding of OAuth flows (Postman a plus)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices
Other Skills

Ability to work well within a team environment, experience working remotely with widely distributed teams a plus
Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders
