Job Description

You will manage all accounting and external reporting matters for a large/complex business unit or area. You will also effectively partner with our external auditor to address complex accounting topics and to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of results. In addition, you will work with our MDS organization to make sure we are accurately reporting and properly reconciling all accounts in the market in a timely manner. In this role, you will maintain a strong connection with the regional team and when appropriate, with the corporate controlling team, to ensure that we are in full compliance with Mondelēz International's Accounting and External Reporting (AER) policies and that we are adopting U.S. GAAP accounting standards in a timely manner. You will also ensure that we comply with all local accounting standards and see to the timely filing of financial statements and indirect tax returns/payments (e.g. VAT, excise tax, sales tax).
How you will contribute
You will:

  • Manage all accounting and external reporting matters for a large/complex business unit or area, including ensuring accurate and timely U.S. GAAP reporting and the timeliness and integrity of statutory financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and KPIs. You will also provide insights into balance sheet movements and cash flow and ensure account reconciliations, intercompany charges, fixed assets, and restructuring are signed off for your area of responsibility.
  • Drive a strong controls and compliance environment in your business unit or area of responsibility and ensure full compliance with our AER policies. You will also act as primary contact with our external auditor in your business unit or area of responsibility.
  • Address complex accounting topics in coordination with the Region Controller and ensure timely adoption of all U.S. GAAP Accounting Standards in the business unit or area. Support the business on policy interpretation for changes in process or M&A activity.
  • Drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP and build a mindset of continuous improvement in the business unit or area team.
  • Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER) team (Mondelēz International employees and actively manage the relationship with Mondelēz International Digital Services and third party providers). You will also recruit and develop talent and drive our AER talent agenda in the business unit/area.


What you will bring

  • TECHNICAL EXPERTISE in accounting and external reporting including an understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS or local GAAP, close processes and financial reporting systems. Expertise in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting. General knowledge of tax laws and indirect and direct tax.
  • BUSINESS ACUMEN and understanding of our business and finance beyond the accounting and external reporting scope. Big Four accounting firm experience preferred.
  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS including proven business partnering and communication skills across a large global, public company. Experience working as a finance leader managing global, cross-functional and business partner teams to drive timely and accurate results.
  • GROWTH/DIGITAL MINDSET and the ability to identify opportunities and leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • INTEGRITY and sound judgement in all decisions and interactions aligned with our values, policies and external regulations.


You will lead the accounting and external reporting function for all legal entities in the assigned countries. This will include US GAAP reporting, local GAAP reporting and timely completion of statutory audits. You will drive the Cash flow preparation, cadence and partner closely with the BU FD to deliver the cash flow, working closely with relevant business and finance stakeholders. You will ensure compliance of Indirect tax regulations including timely filings, partnering with internal and external legal counsel as needed for litigations. In this role, you will foster a strong connection with the regional and corporate AER teams to ensure full compliance with Mondelēz International's Accounting and External Reporting (AER) policies and compliance to local accounting standards.
How you will contribute
You will:

  • Own the period close and reporting timelines and related specific supporting submissions at quarter ends and year ends. (MRL/ MDA/ OOP etc.)
  • Ensure Balance sheet integrity by driving the balance sheet reconciliation process across AER, other finance verticals and with 3rd party shared service providers, likewise drive the learning and awareness of Mondelez finance policies.
  • Own the Cash flow planning. monitoring and cadence, provide insights to the BU FD on opportunities and risks, work closely with the treasury team to have a balance between the repatriation agenda and working capital requirements of the business.
  • Contribute to a strong controls and compliance environment in the country and ensure full compliance with our AER policies. You will act as our primary contact with our external auditor for the country.
  • Ensure Indirect Tax compliance, partner with Legal in litigations and partner with business to optimize Indirect tax opportunities.
  • Address complex accounting topics by interpreting business situations in their true substance, applying the relevant policies & interpretation, act as a liaison between the BU and regional AER teams.
  • Drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP and build a mindset of continuous improvement in the country team.
  • Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER) team and actively manage the relationship with Mondelēz International Business Services/third party providers).
  • Recruit and develop talent and drive our AER talent agenda in the country.

  • BUSINESS ACUMEN and understanding of our business and finance beyond the AER scope. Experience in similar industries and in such roles preferred
  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS including proven business partnering and communication skills across a large global, public company. Experience working as a global finance leader managing global, cross-functional and business partner teams to drive timely and accurate results
  • MANAGERIAL COURAGE to hold firm grounds on policy compliance and adherence.
