We're building a platform engineering team that puts developer experience at the center of everything we do. As a Developer Experience Specialist, you'll be responsible for improving how internal teams interact with platform tools and services. You'll lead and advocate for developer needs, design intuitive self-service interfaces, design and implement feedback and communication processes, improve documentation, and ensure that onboarding and day-to-day workflows are smooth, secure, and efficient.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
You'll start by reviewing feedback and usage metrics from developers interacting with platform tools. You'll collaborate with engineers to improve self-service interfaces, streamline onboarding flows, or troubleshoot usability issues. You'll be working with cross-functional teams to design better developer journeys. You'll have the autonomy to drive improvements, and the support of a team that values empathy, innovation, and shared success.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic leader and advocate for internal developer experience, shaping platform engineering initiatives to align with organizational goals
  • Drive the vision and execution of self-service interfaces (e.g., internal portals, APIs, templates) that empower developers and accelerate innovation
  • Architect and implement feedback and communication processes that inform platform strategy and ensure transparent, actionable insights for leadership
  • Analyze developer feedback and usage metrics to identify opportunities for transformative platform improvements, influencing product roadmaps and investment decisions
  • Lead the optimization of onboarding flows and usability of platform tools, ensuring seamless integration and adoption across global teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders-including engineering, product management, and external partners-to deliver secure, scalable, and intuitive developer solutions
  • Develop and maintain strategic documentation, guides, and resources that enable developer productivity and support organizational change
  • Monitor and report on developer experience metrics, providing executive-level insights and recommendations for continuous improvement

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or related discipline)
  • 10+ years of experience in developer tooling, DevOps, or platform engineering
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD systems and developer workflows
  • Experience designing and supporting internal tools (e.g., APIs, portals, templates)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a user-first mindset
  • Fluent in English; capable of clear technical communication across scientific and engineering disciplines
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or related discipline)
  • 8+ years of experience in developer tooling, DevOps, or platform engineering
  • Experience with developer onboarding and enablement programs
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Typescript)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience working in regulated environments or with compliance frameworks (e.g., GxP , SOC2, HIPAA)

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Travel up to 10% may be required for business activities.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156,600.00 to $261,000.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. * The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $141,000.00 to $235,000.00.
