Shape the Future of Global Strategy
We’re looking for an experienced and intellectually curious Director-level Geo Economic Analyst to join our International and FX Research team. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of global economics, geopolitics, and financial markets—where your insights will help guide strategic decisions across the bank.
You’ll deliver forward-looking analysis and thought leadership to senior stakeholders, including the executive team, risk, strategy, and client-facing units. Your work will influence how the bank navigates global uncertainty and opportunity.
What You’ll Do
Geo-Economic Analysis & Forecasting: Monitor and interpret macroeconomic and geopolitical developments across Australia, Asia, the US, and other key markets. Develop scenario-based forecasts and risk assessments on trade, capital flows, sanctions, supply chains, and strategic industries
Strategic Advisory: Advise senior leadership on geo-economic risks and opportunities impacting the bank and its clients. Contribute to strategic planning and country risk frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement: Present insights to internal and external stakeholders, including institutional clients and media. Collaborate with economists and strategists across Global Economic & Markets Research.
Research & Publications: Produce high-quality publications, briefings, and presentations on geo-economic themes. Represent the bank at conferences, roundtables, and industry forums.
What You’ll Bring
Relevant experience in geo-economic analysis, macroeconomics, or strategic planning—ideally within financial services, government, multilateral institutions, think tanks, consulting, or academia
Deep understanding of global economic systems and geopolitical dynamics
Exceptional communication skills—able to distil complex issues into clear, actionable insights
Proven ability to influence senior decision-makers and contribute to strategic outcomes
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently
A proactive approach to risk, aligned with our commitment to identifying, discussing, and acting on current and future risks
A degree in economics, international relations, or a related field
