Director, Product Design

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Product Design to grow and lead our Design organization in India. This role combines strategic leadership, hands-on UX expertise, and technical understanding to create exceptional user experiences across our applications.

For over 15 years, Zuora has led the way in subscription management. Our platform has evolved through multiple technology stacks and acquisitions, which means there’s incredible diversity in our application—and also a tremendous opportunity to unify and elevate our UX standards.

In 2024, we rebooted the Zuora Design team with one clear mission: to set a world-class standard for B2B design. We’ve already embarked on a series of transformative projects that span everything from our design system foundations to high-impact pages, aiming to make Zuora a benchmark for user experience and interface design. We’ve even built out a dedicated UI engineering group that reports directly to Design, allowing us to push boundaries on componentry, interaction models, animations, and bespoke aesthetics.

As part of our continued expansion, we’re now looking for a Design Leader in India to establish and grow a local design team that embodies this level of innovation and excellence. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Zuora’s global design vision—bringing fresh perspectives, cultivating top talent, and crafting exceptional product experiences that delight and inspire.

Primary ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & Strategy

• Lead the Design team in India, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs

• Help the team to come to considered and well balanced product decisions, by encouraging user research, data analysis, and design thinking methodologies

• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure that UX standards are upheld and to support the engineering teams in delivering functionality on-time and on-budget

• Champion the value of our design practice and of high UX standards, both internally and publicly.

Design Leadership & Team Building

• Build and mentor a world-class UX team by attracting, recruiting, and retaining top design talent

• Foster a culture of design throughout the wider Zuora team, emphasizing innovation, collaboration, and user-centered thinking

• Create opportunities for team growth through workshops, design reviews, and skill-sharing sessions

Technical Excellence & UI Architecture

• Input into the development and maintenance of our design system, ensuring consistency across all products

• Demonstrate strong understanding of modern UI architectures, particularly React-based, and the design constraints they impose

• Collaborate with engineering leads on technical decisions that impact user experience

• Bridge the gap between design vision and technical implementation

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of UX design experience, with 4+ years in a leadership role

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in a B2B SaaS company

• Proven track record of shipping successful products and leading design teams

• Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies

• Excellence in user research, interaction design, and usability principles

• Track record of successful design team building and talent development

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building and scaling design systems

• Experience or qualification in Graphic Design

• Knowledge of working with complex animations and micro-interations

• Public speaking experience at industry conferences or events

• Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or related field
