Job Summary:

This role serves as the enterprise strategy lead embedded with a designated business unit, operating through a dotted‑line partnership with business unit executive leadership. The Director is accountable for shaping strategy, translating enterprise direction into actionable plans, and supporting disciplined execution—while maintaining alignment with enterprise priorities, standards, and governance through the Enterprise Strategy Office. The role balances deep business‑unit partnership with an enterprise perspective, ensuring strategies are decision‑oriented, integrated across the system, and supported by clear plans, metrics, and execution follow‑through.

Job Duties:

  • Partner with business unit leaders to frame critical strategic questions and develop clear strategic direction aligned to enterprise priorities. Shape and recommend strategic choices, priorities, and tradeoffs informed by enterprise context, knowledge of the current business environment, and informed perspectives on future state opportunities and pressures.
  • Translate approved strategy into multi‑year and annual plans, including priorities, targets, sequencing, and resource implications. Support development and pressure‑testing of business cases and investment theses in partnership with Finance and operational leaders. Ensure alignment with enterprise planning cadence, capital guardrails, and governance.
  • Surface cross‑business dependencies, risks, and sequencing challenges. Coordinate with other BU‑aligned Strategy Directors and the ACSO to resolve enterprise‑level tradeoffs. Maintain enterprise perspective while operating in close partnership with BU leadership.
  • Define key analytic and insight questions required to inform strategic decisions. Partner with Strategic Insights to translate analysis into decision‑ready options, implications, and risks. Conduct independent future-sensing to stay ahead of environmental opportunities and pressures.
  • Provide hands‑on strategic support for a portfolio of enterprise‑critical initiatives within the business unit. Partner with Strategic Initiatives to clarify scope, milestones, and dependencies. Build BU capability through shared tools, templates, and decision frameworks.
  • Support routine strategic performance reviews; use performance insights to drive decisions and corrective actions. Signal when strategy adjustment or reprioritization may be required.
  • Lead executive strategy and working sessions and cross‑functional forums. Develop clear, concise executive‑ready narratives, decision memos, and presentation materials. Build alignment and momentum from strategy through execution.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
