Role Definition
Design, development and testing of electrical and/or electronic components for use within machines and engine systems.
Responsibilities • Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components. • Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components. • Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of Electrical and electronics components like ECMs, Displays etc. • Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components.

  • Manage and develop product roadmaps and lifecycle sustainment plans.
  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation engineering curriculum.

    Level Extensive Experience: • Trains others on designing complex integrated circuits. • Anticipates the challenges and opportunities associated with creating printed circuit boards. • Interprets alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations. • Advises on matching methodology, materials and tools to the electronic product that is being built. • Consults on engineering multiple electronic circuits, components or devices. • Evaluates the benefits and drawbacks of analog and digital circuits.
    Product Design - HTH: Knowledge of and the ability to reverse engineer to custom and market requirements into a product design.
    Level Extensive Experience: • Monitors each phase of the design procedure to ensure overall operation meets standards. • Trains others on major processes of product design; directs the conception of each component. • Advises others on the development of multiple products and their architectures. • Delivers improvement plans to senior management and compares the outcome of the design against the architecture. • Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses. • Controls design and development costs of a proposed product through effective resource coordination.
    Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives.
    Level Working Knowledge: • Selects appropriate tools and methods to ensure reliability expectations in hardware products. • Participates in product reliability and quality assurance standard processes to meet process demands. • Conducts performance and reliability testing for a specific hardware product or product group. • Implements reliability activities and tasks for product development and maintenance plans. • Analyzes common hardware reliability failures; provides corrective action plans.
    Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
    Level Working Knowledge: • Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks. • Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers. • Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command. • Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection. • Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
