You will join our E&I department
As a Automation Engineer in the Automation (A&E) team, you will be reporting to our HOD (A&E) of the Ramboll Chennai office.
In this role you will primarily involve in various PLCs (control Systems) Panels, electrical panels interior arrangement drawing preparation using AutoCAD Electrical software tool
Job Description
Primary Tasks & Requirements will be
- 4+ years’ experience from companies manufacturers or control panel system integrators or companies manufacturing various electrical panels.
- Fully responsible for creating control & electrical panel internal layouts, positioning of various components, wiring, etc. using AutoCAD Electrical
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience in AutoCAD Electrical will be an added advantage. If not having such experience you will be trained in AutoCAD Electrical
- Other tool knowledge like Revit, BIM360 will be an advantage
- Experience in control panel design including the system cabinets, interface cabinets, marshalling cabinets, etc.
- Experience in power supplies to cabinets and design including 480 V and 24V power distribution
- Experience in Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLCs and other brand PLCs
- Ability to handle all design activities of a project independently with minimum support from engineers.
- Lead the group of Designers & Draughtsman. Technically guide and train them for timely completion of the project.
- To make use of intelligent tools like automation of AutoCAD using MS excel, MS access etc

- Check and QA/QC of the drawings / documents.
- Multi-discipline coordination
Qualifications
You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and you thrive in an environment where knowledge is shared and ideas are developed. Furthermore, you are technically well founded and have an interest in technical challenges.
To succeed in this position, you need the following competences:
- Bachelor or Diploma holder in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or Equivalent.
- Good English language skills, both in writing and spoken. Understanding US accent is a key requirement
- Should have 4+ years of experience in engineering with substantial experience in Electrical or Automation discipline related detail design & engineering activity and should have involved in engineering interfaces with other disciplines pertaining to refineries, Petrochemical and Process plants and preferably in a PLC vendor or System Integrator organisation.
- Knowledge of US codes & standards, materials, specifications, calculations and datasheets.
- Should have handled assigned projects independently.
- Good interpersonal skills, liaising with members of other disciplines and departments.
- Ability or proven experience in an offshoring center or coordinated work with a distant offshoring center.
- Experience from consultancies of repute in greenfield and brownfield activities.
