Technical Asset Support (TAS)team aims to develop central, competitive capabilities delivering end-to-end value through the AMS work processes as an integral part of our Downstream Manufacturing (DS-M), Integrated Gas & New Energies (IGNE) and Upstream (UP) asset teams. We support the business worldwide and often do so together with the deep capability of our Project & Technology (P&T), Information Technology (IT). You are going to play a vital role in the delivery of continued efficiency and effectiveness improvement by bringing cross-business learning on key processes.
Specific activities can include (but not limited to):
• Perform engineering activities for the assigned Production Asset, covering:
• Advanced Process Control (APC) project implementation, maintenance, and optimization (preferred skill).
• Base-layer control strategies, including complex regulatory control implementations (override schemes, selectors, split-range, cascade, etc.).
• HMI design, compressor control awareness, and alarm management.
• DCS configuration and system troubleshooting, with preference for Honeywell Experion–based control systems.• Participate in ESP Alarm Review Meetings with technical and operations teams to deliver lower alarm rates:
• Alarm configuration and design
• Alarm Review Team participation
• Alarm metrics and performance monitoring
• Alarm rationalization and revalidations
• Using ACM/UTL for PTM monitoring• Author plant changes (MOC) within the Process Control discipline and provide design support for plant changes initiated by other disciplines.
• Support or lead failure analysis and causal investigation of base-layer control failures or incidents.
• Own, lead, and resolve MTO threats with root-cause–based solutions.• Network with other sites and discipline personnel to maintain high-quality standards of work and proactively adopt best practices and new technology opportunities (Process Control techniques, Procedural Automation, MDPro, APC improvements, etc.).
• Provide Process Control day-to-day support for the designated Operating Area:
• Troubleshoot control and information system issues (hardware & software).
• Implement and optimize APC applications OR address complex DCS base-layer control enhancements.
• Responsible for MDPro configuration changes for both R&M and project scopes.
• Monitor and improve base-layer controller performance; identify bad actors and take corrective actions.
• Maintain Safety Instrumented Systems awareness within the assigned area.• Collaborate with other engineering and maintenance specialists for any Process Control–related work.
• Develop, submit, and provide technical data supporting turnaround scope items for assigned units.
Skills and Requirements
• Chemical Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering degree preferred; other relevant engineering degrees may be considered.
Experience – Minimum 5+ years in Oil & Gas / Refining / Petrochemicals
Experience in any of the following areas:
• Advanced Process Control
• Strong APC implementation skills.
• Experience with multivariable controllers, inferential modelling, controller performance tracking, and APC optimization.• DCS System Engineering
• Strong background in DCS engineering and system-level troubleshooting.
• Ability to implement complex base-layer control schemes inside DCS logic.
• Honeywell system experience (Experion PKS, C300, Control Builder) preferred.Technical Competencies
