Engineering Manager - Auto,Tire & BatteryEV
Chennai
We are seeking an experienced engineering Manager with experience in manufacturing and MES/MOM who can lead customer workshops, understand complex manufacturing processes, and design consultative, scalable solutions while driving account growth. You must manage end‑to‑end delivery across multiple projects, guiding architects, developers, and PMs using agile and DevOps practices to ensure high‑quality, on‑time execution. Strong stakeholder‑management skills are necessary , along with the ability to collaborate with sales, product teams, and global resources while continuously improving processes and mitigating risks
You will report to Technical Director, Gcc Auto, Tire & Battery and follow a Hybrid working schedule in Chennai
Your Responsibilities:
Business responsibilities
- Understand Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and Digitization aspects in Auto, Tire, BatteryEV, Discrete, Pharma and CPG manufacturing industry and expand to other industries.
- Organise MOM requirements and design workshops with customers directly and moderate the sessions
- Be able to table Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on required subjects in these workshops
- Understand customer manufacturing process and MOM requirements and be very consultative in providing inputs
- Understand Rockwell's strategy for the customer accounts where you will be Technical Delivery Manager
- Understand customer commercial plans and be aligned
- Target growth of business in these accounts for which you will be in-charge of Technical Delivery
- Work closely with sales team members and presales technical consultants on proposal preparation and sales presentation
- Estimate people and hours required for work and prepare techno-commercial proposal for customer
- Lead Solution Architects, Technical Leads, PMs, Developers (onsite and remote) for a few projects at a time
- Detail out activities to be performed in the project to achieve the target
- Manage sprints and deliver using agile methodology
- Lead development activities with onsite developers and remote COE developers by using tools like JIRA
- Manage code checkin and release process using DevOps tools like Github
- Lead onsite customer team to write functional test cases
- Lead deployment team to perform functional testing and demonstrate same to customer and get the approval from customer
- Lead the commissioning of software and hardware systems following the solution architecture
- Stay up to date on technological advancements related to Rockwell technology and the industry
- Work with Rockwell and other related product team experts and plan changes, upgrades and maintenance of MOM systems
- Must understand contracts, IP, subcontractor agreements and be aligned to the same
- Track utilization of people reporting to the Manager and keep it at required levels (85%)
- Document case study and value proposition and provide inputs to product marketing
- Share knowledge with other Delivery Managers, Engineering Managers and their teams
- Make sure deliveries are met with Good Quality, within budget (as per efforts provided)

The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Total of at least 10+ years' experience in manufacturing domain
- Must have MES FRS preparation experience and FDS preparation
- Must understand at least one MES product (or custom application) to the extent of being able to design and model
- Must understand latest Software technology
- Must have experience working on MES projects as Project Lead or preferably as Solution Architect or Technical Architect or Functional Consultant
- Must understand of concepts of data collection from machines
- Must have Manufacturing domain knowledge
- Should be a "thinker" and "Innovator"
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Exposure to multiple domains (e.g., manufacturing, Automotive).
- Knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, or recent advancements in deep learning.
- Project management or consulting experience with top-tier firms.
