Team Overview

As a Technical Manager within the Online Build Team, you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade modernization programs, transitioning legacy systems to cloud-native microservices architectures. You will provide strategic and technical leadership across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with business goals, architectural standards, and delivery timelines. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of TransUnion’s online platforms and driving innovation at scale. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale modernization programs and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of scalable microservices architecture and cloud-native design principles.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Experience in managing distributed teams and mentoring technical talent.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality, resilient solutions.
  • Deep proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in building scalable, high-performance Online APIs using microservices architecture.
  • Known for a “get-things-done” mindset—able to break down complex problems, align teams, and deliver high-quality solutions on time, even in fast-paced or ambiguous environments.

 

How You Will Contribute:

  • Lead strategic modernization efforts, transitioning legacy systems to scalable, cloud-native microservices.
  • Collaborate with global teams to define and execute the Online Cloud roadmap, ensuring architectural consistency and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across multiple agile teams, ensuring delivery of high-quality, business-critical solutions.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps principles.
  • Drive talent development, performance management, and team capacity planning.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads by example, fostering a culture of continuous learning, code quality, and cross-functional collaboration. Experienced in guiding junior engineers and aligning technical direction with business goals.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cloud migration and modernization programs.
  • Expertise in Java, GCP, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams.

Required Knowledge And Experiences

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with AI and LLMs.
  • Familiarity with PCI, SOX, security, compliance, and performance optimization in cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to assess, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
