Job Summary:

The Financial Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining a customised data framework, preparing reports, and identifying trends and financial performance patterns. This involves a monthly delivery cycle that includes:

  1. Cleaning, transforming, and interpreting financial data and reports (such as accounting statements and industry statistics).
  2. Creating data visualisations to support informed business decisions and provide actionable insights.
  3. Maintaining and updating internal datasets as required.

Responsibilities:

Data Cleaning and Transformation:

·    Review and clean monthly financial data using Microsoft Excel (including Power Query), identifying potential gaps or inconsistencies.

·    Transform cleaned data into a format that can be readily used for visualisations and analysis.

Dataset Updating:

·    Maintain and update internal datasets on industry metrics on a regular basis, ensuring that information is accurate and up-to-date.

·    Develop new datasets as required by the business using a combination of Microsoft Excel, Python, and SQL.

Data Visualisations and Analysis:

·    Develop and maintain data visualisations and dashboards on Microsoft Excel and Tableau.

·    Perform quantitative analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Report Preparation:

·    Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, including financial data insights and dashboards.

·    Assist in the preparation of business proposals and other reports using PowerPoint and Canva.

Trend Analysis:

·    Monitor and analyse key financial metrics and performance indicators.

·    Identify patterns and trends in financial data to provide actionable insights.

Collaboration:

·    Communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.

·    Work closely with internal teams to support data-driven decision-making.

Data Integrity:

·    Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through regular validation and cleansing.

·    Develop and implement data management procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

Non-Negotiables:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience:
  • 2–4 years as a financial analyst or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Power Query) and Python.
  • Strong proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Tableau.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Skills:
  • Understanding of financial statements (Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Balance Sheet).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SQL and Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of the ETL process and data management best practices.
  • Experience in industries like real estate, accommodation, or hospitality.
  • Experience in market research and analysis to support report writing and proposals.
  • Understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams.
