Position Title: India GCC Leader

Reports To: Chief Transformation Officer
Location: Chennai, India

Position Summary

The GCC Leader will establish and grow Barry-Wehmiller’s Global Competency Center (GCC) in India as a multi-functional capability hub. The role will focus primarily on Engineering, while also leading the expansion of Sourcing, IT, Finance Shared Services, and other enabling functions.

This role will be accountable for building scale, consistency, and talent depth across the GCC while ensuring the center delivers measurable business value to global divisions. In addition to scaling day-to-day delivery, the role will play a pivotal part in building global engineering competencies such as Content Management, Digital Twins, Simulation, and Value Engineering, working closely with enterprise and platform leaders to define standards and accelerate adoption.

The GCC Leader must combine operational excellence in building a new organization with the ability to influence across divisions and functions, creating alignment, trust, and a shared vision for how the GCC strengthens Barry-Wehmiller globally.

Key Responsibilities

GCC Leadership

  • Establish and scale the GCC in India as a multi-functional capability hub, including Engineering, Sourcing, IT, and Finance Shared Services.

  • Define governance, operating rhythms, and performance management processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and accountability across all GCC functions.

  • Provide consolidated visibility into GCC performance, talent, and capability development for global leaders.

Engineering Excellence and Competency Development

  • Partner with enterprise and platform engineering leaders to align on global engineering standards, tools harmonization, and Design for Excellence practices.

  • Build and scale new engineering competencies (Content Management, Digital Twin, Simulation, Value Engineering) in collaboration with global stakeholders.

  • Position the India GCC as a center that not only delivers engineering services but also contributes to innovation and enterprise-wide capability building.

Business Partnership and Stakeholder Alignment

  • Build trust-based partnerships with global platform leaders, ensuring GCC delivery supports divisional priorities for cost, quality, and time.

  • Act as the primary advocate for the GCC’s role in supporting enterprise and platform strategies.

  • Work with finance and people teams to ensure transparent, compliant, and scalable cost allocation and talent practices.

People and Culture

  • Build leadership depth and succession across GCC functions, ensuring readiness for scale.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation consistent with Barry-Wehmiller’s values.

  • Partner with People leaders globally and locally to attract, develop, and retain top talent.

Desired Qualifications

  • 20+ years’ experience leading Engineering or multi-functional global capability centers.

  • Demonstrated success in scaling teams and delivery centers in complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Experience in driving engineering transformation (standards, tools, Design for Excellence) across multiple business units.

  • Exposure to digital engineering capabilities such as Digital Twin, Simulation, and advanced design methodologies.

  • Strong global stakeholder management skills — able to build alignment and trust across geographies and divisions.

  • Proven people leadership skills, including building leadership pipelines and cross-functional teams.

  • Agility to balance short-term delivery demands with long-term capability building.
