Build and run a demand generation engine: set pipeline targets, run paid and outbound programs, hire and lead paid-digital and SDR teams, use open-source signals to target accounts, own funnel reporting and attribution, iterate positioning and creative, and drive pipeline quality with sales.

Why this role exists

SigNoz is an open source observability platform built on OpenTelemetry. Think logs, metrics and traces in one tool, as an open source alternative to Datadog and New Relic. We are a YC company, and most of our growth so far has come from the open source project and word of mouth.

Now we want someone to build a proper pipeline engine on top of it.

What you will actually build

We have a rough shape of the team in mind, and you will hire it:

  • Paid digital: one person on LinkedIn and X ads, one on Google and other search. Creative work handled through some mix of freelancers, agencies and eventually in-house.

  • SDRs: an SDR leader plus 2 to 3 SDRs. Messaging starts with the founders, then the SDR leader takes it over.

Until those people are hired, a lot of this is you. You will run campaigns yourself, write sequences, and set up the reporting. We are not looking for someone who needs a team in place before anything happens.

What the job looks like day to day
  • Agree pipeline targets , then figure out how to hit them

  • Hire the team above, in whatever order you think makes sense

  • Run paid programs on LinkedIn, X and Google, and move budget to whatever is actually working

  • Stand up outbound: who we target, in what order, with what message, and how leads get handed to sales

  • Use the signals we are lucky to have (a large open source user base, community activity, self-serve signups) to decide which accounts to go after

  • Build the funnel reporting so we all know what converts and what does not

  • Work with us on positioning, and brief whoever is making the creative

  • Sit in pipeline reviews with sales and take the lead quality feedback seriously

Who we think fits
  • Around 7 or more years in demand gen or growth at B2B software companies, some of that leading people

  • You have sold to developers or engineers before. Devtools, infra, observability or open source background helps a lot, because this audience ignores most marketing

  • You have built a pipeline program from an early stage at least once. If your whole career has been running an existing machine at a big company, this will probably frustrate you

  • Genuinely hands-on in at least two of: paid social, paid search, outbound, ABM, lifecycle

  • Comfortable with the math: attribution, funnel conversion, CAC, pipeline efficiency

  • Have hired or closely managed SDRs, or worked tightly enough with them to know what good looks like

  • Know the current GTM tooling landscape and have opinions on where AI actually helps vs where it is hype

Bonus points if you have used Datadog, Grafana, New Relic or anything in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, or worked somewhere open source and self-serve signups fed the sales pipeline.

Why do this

You get to build the whole function from scratch with real product pull behind you. Thousands of teams already use SigNoz, so this is not cold-start demand. You get direct access to founders, real budget and hiring authority, and if it goes well, the senior-most marketing seat as we grow.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
