Department

You will be part of  Manufacturing Operation-India , Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.

 

Role

Procurement Head role at Arakkonam focusing on driving procurement execution, improving resource efficiency, implementing global strategies, and leading the team in sustainable solutions for customers. Responsible for team development, supplier performance, cost reduction, and logistics management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the Purchasing employees, coach and develop the team, prioritize activities and review performance. 
  • Develops and monitors KPI’s to support the Regional/ Global Procurement Strategies and Sourcing programs.
  • Identifies and develops best in class suppliers and supplier management systems primarily using existing supplier network.
  • Conduct performance reviews at agreed intervals (e.g., monthly, quarterly). Assess if suppliers are meeting the set benchmarks and targets. 
  • Provide constructive feedback to suppliers. If there are performance issues, work collaboratively to develop improvement plans with clear steps and timelines. 
  • Keep track of the supplier’s progress against the improvement plan. Regular check-ins ensure that the desired improvements are being made. 
  • Promotes best practice in procurement, category management and compliance across all Business Units in the Division.
  • Represents the divisional sourcing and procurement needs on relevant forum at Group-, Divisional- and BU level.
  • New product development & supplier development experience will have added advantages.  
  • Reviews and manages succession planning and competency development needs in the procurement area of the division.
  • Monitors the market and performs analyses of market conditions to contribute to the overall   cost efficiency of the procurement organization
  • Maintain detailed records of all performance reviews, communications, and improvement plans. This documentation is vital for future reference and decision-making 
  • Compiles specific reports and performs calculations to support Procurement, Sales and Projects.
  • Lead to improvement in customer satisfaction via improved DIFOT and quality of the offerings.
  • Manage Procurement Department budget. 

Key Accountabilities

• Ensures execution of purchasing activities to comply with business unit specific requirements for cost, time, quality and risk minimization
• Engages with business units management, on strategic as well as tactical Purchasing related matters, to ensure right and timely involvement
• Manages and develops the country purchasing team and ensures collaboration and alignment with logistics and Quality Control /expediting
• Drives efficiency through resource optimization, offshoring and implementation of best practice within purchasing across all business units in the country
• Engages in the implementation of and compliance to procurement policies, processes and reporting of KPI’s in alignment with group directives, and leads specifically for purchasing
• Ensures realization of savings implementing global category initiatives
• Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company’s operational activities
 

What you bring

  • Proven experience working in Project procurement/ Sourcing / Category management in heavy industry is required. Cement machineries knowledge is preferable.
  • Engineer by qualification with 15-20 years and above experience.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating factory
  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Knowledge in ERP / Oracle / Atlas system will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge in Share point / Power BI will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology
  • In depth knowledge of procurement and global sourcing.
  • Good knowledge of P2P - Procure to Pay process flow - desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial attributes.
  • Good organizational and time-management skill.

Education Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.

Experience

15-20 years’ experience in Procurement
