This role is open globally, but preferred locations are set in our main division locations in Europe, in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Italy, Sweden or France. The work model is hybrid #LI-hybrid.    

As part of our ambitious growth, we are hiring our new Head of Strategy and Business Development for our ABB Motion Traction division. As Head of Strategy and Business Development, you will define and continuously refine ABB and the division's strategy in collaboration with senior leadership. Acting as a trusted sparring partner on strategic topics, you will lead business development projects and strategic planning initiatives that shape Traction's future. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define and implement business and sustainability strategies, challenging the status quo and proposing alternative scenarios. 

  • Identify opportunities for superior value creation aligned with ABB’s purpose and sustainability goals. 

  • Drive inorganic growth opportunities and support active portfolio management. 

  • Oversee identification, screening, and validation processes for organic growth and partnerships. 

  • Ensure ambitious business plans with clear accountability for execution. 

  • Provide competitive and market landscape insights to stakeholders. 

  • Communicate strategy effectively and ensure systematic execution. 

  • Deliver high-quality documents to enable timely decision-making. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business, finance, or related field; MBA is an asset.   

  • Knowledge of the Rail and/or E-mobility for heavy vehicles is a strong plus. 

  • Proven experience in strategic planning and business development within a global organization. 

  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles and their integration into business strategy. 

  • Expertise in financial analysis, portfolio management, and market assessment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 

  • Experience in coaching and developing teams. 

  • Creative, energic, self-motivated, flexible team player
