What we should tell you about the company:
Filed is building the first AI tax preparer trusted by America’s accounting firms.

This industry might seem boring - but it’s a $70B backbone of the economy that’s breaking under a talent shortage no one has solved. We’re fixing it - fast.

In just 9 months, we’ve hit strong product-market fit, are generating insanely fast-growing, ridiculously sticky revenue, and are backed by top-tier investors. We’re not a tool - we’re the missing workforce firms have been sounding the alarm for. We’re building the future by expanding our already 30-person team with those who want to say “I was there when it all started.”

This is an onsite position and the candidate will need to either relocate or be based out of Bangalore

What we should tell you about the role:

We’re looking for an HR Manager/Internal Recruiter who ensures every single teammate in Bangalore feels supported, every recruiter feels unblocked, and every candidate feels seen. You’re the first line of defense for hiring 100 new stars in India - and you own that with pride.

You thrive on building from scratch. You want to create a company people beg to work for. You love talking to people, learning their motivations, and making sure our fast-growing team is taken care of. When you see a hiring process slowing down, you don’t wait for permission - you jump in, escalate, send the offer, and unblock.

You believe HR is about culture and capability, not just compliance. You’re excited to own every part of the Bangalore office experience, from payroll to clawbacks, L&D to weekend offer letters. And you love being the go-to person who just gets things done.

Here’s why this is a terrible job:

  • You will not be a back-office HR rep. This role is the beating heart of our India team’s success.

  • You’ll work at high speed. If something’s broken, people are waiting on you to fix it - immediately.

  • If it’s 8pm on a Friday and an offer needs to go out - you’re not the type to say “I’ll handle it Monday.”

  • We’re hiring at warp speed. That means constant context switching, juggling hiring priorities, and chasing down interview feedback fast.

  • You’ll use systems like Ashby, Rippling, and whatever tools we need to scale - and learn them fast.

  • People will expect you to have answers to everything: payroll, benefits, onboarding, morale. That’s not overwhelming to you - it’s energizing.

  • You are accountable for unblocking. That means you need thick skin, strong judgment, and bias toward action.

Here’s why it’s the best career choice you’ll make:

  • You’ll be the cultural architect of a rocketship’s most important market. You’ll build the environment, not just observe it.

  • You’ll be at the frontline of hiring 100+ people in one of the world’s most dynamic talent ecosystems.

  • You’ll work directly with execs and department leads - your voice will matter and your work will drive real impact.

  • You’ll build systems, not maintain them. There’s no playbook here - you get to write it.

  • We run performance reviews every 4 months. Transparent pay, fast growth, real ownership.

  • You’ll have autonomy, speed, and trust. The way you operate will shape how we scale.

  • You’ll create a workplace where people want to stay, grow, and thrive. That’s rare. And powerful.

The teammate we’re looking for:

  • People person who builds trust fast and loves solving problems for others

  • Has been an internal recruiter or HR operator at a fast-growing U.S.-based company in India

  • Fun to work with - brings levity, energy, and kindness into fast-paced work

  • Willing to go the extra mile - whether it’s sending out offers late or chasing paperwork that unblocks a hire

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership, and being the go-to person for “make it happen” energy

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Creating the HR infrastructure from scratch for our India team: onboarding, compliance, performance, and beyond

  • Running smooth, error-free payroll and handling clawbacks on bonuses with professionalism and care

  • Owning the culture and L&D of the Bangalore office - making it a place people are proud to work in

  • Screening every candidate who wants to join Filed in India - you’ll be the first person they talk to

  • Keeping recruiting unblocked: from sourcing to scheduling to offer letters - quickly and flawlessly

Your hard skillset:

  • Fluent in tools like Ashby (ATS), Rippling (HRIS), and local Indian payroll/benefits systems

  • Deep knowledge of Indian labor practices, compliance, and scaling challenges

  • Able to build scalable processes without sacrificing humanity or speed

  • Clear communicator who can manage stakeholders across continents and time zones

  • Experience supporting high-growth orgs with urgency, transparency, and care

Your soft skillset:

  • Fun to work with - people want to talk to you, even when it’s hard news

  • Empathetic listener with a bias toward action and problem-solving

  • Comfortable being the “glue” - you bring people and processes together

  • Resilient, reliable, and energized by chaos - it doesn’t fluster you, it fuels you

  • You take ownership, fix what’s broken, and celebrate wins big and small

Growth and Levels:

  1. We operate on six levels, from Level 1 to Level 6. Each reflects increasing ownership, impact, and scope with meaningful jumps in salary and equity.

  2. We review levels every 4 months. Promotions are based on output and ownership, not tenure.

  3. This isn’t a cushy HR job - it’s intense, high-stakes, and high-reward.

  4. You will launch fast. You will learn fast. You will own what you ship.

The process:

  • Quick intro call (30 minutes)

  • Async task or case study (60 minutes)

  • Final round with our team (120 minutes)

In just 3.5 hours, you’ll be wanting early access - just like the rest of our team - to get into the stack and start building a generational company, even before your first day. Because you’ll see the opportunity to change your career trajectory - fast.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
