IBM iSeries Platform Administrator Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support the IBM iSeries environment to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and configurations, ensuring smooth and seamless updates.
- Monitor system performance continuously and optimize for high availability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with development teams to provide support for applications running on the iSeries platform.
- Perform regular backups, conduct restore tests, and participate in disaster recovery drills.
- Troubleshoot and resolve both hardware and software issues to minimize system downtime.
- Implement robust security protocols, including managing user access and permissions, to safeguard system integrity.
- Document procedures, system changes, and configurations for future reference and compliance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless system operations and integrations.
- Provide on-call support as necessary, including weekends, to ensure continuous system uptime and reliability.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as an IBM iSeries Administrator or in a similar role with a focus on system management.
- In-depth knowledge of IBM iSeries hardware and software environments, with a strong understanding of their configuration and functionality.
- Expertise in using system monitoring tools and performance tuning to optimize system efficiency.
- Familiarity with industry best practices for backup and recovery procedures.
- Solid understanding of security protocols, as well as user access and permission management on IBM iSeries platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to quickly address hardware and software issues.
- Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to thoroughly document system configurations, procedures, and changes for future reference.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to provide on-call support as required, including weekends, to ensure system reliability.
