Position Overview
As a young and quickly growing company that combines financial understanding and engineering, MerQube’s environment is fast-paced, collegial, flexible and offers meaningful work. We are hiring an Index Operations Analyst to be responsible for the daily maintenance of index operations, focusing on data quality and supporting both internal and external ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze asset prices, corporate actions, and other incoming data, investigate potential errors and coordinate with data vendors to correct it in a timely manner.
- Ensure corporate actions are applied to the index based on the index specific rules.
- Manage processes for handling and validating financial data, including preventive checks, error investigations, and remediations necessary to maintain data quality.
- Perform rigorous quality checks prior to index dissemination and assist with end-of-day validations.
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of index management, including validation, launch, rebalancing, and governance processes.
- Monitor and maintain index accuracy across equity and multi-asset classes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and methodology.
- Perform rebalance screening, represent rebalancing result to index committee and implement rebalances.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing index methodologies, benchmarks, and compliance documentation to ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Contribute to the design and automation of workflows to improve operational efficiency and error prevention.
- Support operations and initiatives across multiple asset classes, including equity, fixed income, derivatives, and commodities.
- Provide actionable reports and analyses to stakeholders, addressing client inquiries related to index data and calculations.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure seamless cross-regional workflows and operational continuity.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in index management, financial data analysis, or related fields, with a strong focus on corporate actions, data validation, and process optimization.
- Strong understanding of financial market data, corporate actions, and their impact on indices, with a willingness to deepen expertise.
- Practical experience with financial data sets and tools such as FactSet, Reuters, Morningstar, Bloomberg, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of financial benchmarks, index methodologies, and rebalancing concepts, with the ability to handle both basic and complex scenarios.
- Experience in process improvement and automation initiatives, including contributing to workflow optimization and writing requirements for technical teams.
- Proven ability to maintain and validate data quality, investigate errors, and liaise with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working in cross-functional and global teams, ensuring smooth workflows and operational continuity.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field; advanced coursework or certifications (e.g., CFA, CQF) are a plus.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in VBA, SQL and Python, with the ability to apply these skills to improve operational efficiency.
- Awareness of regulatory standards, such as Benchmark Regulations and IOSCO principles, with a commitment to developing expertise in compliance-related areas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
