Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT Architect to join our team who will have the opportunity to champion our GCIO Manufacturing Support _CAT IT Division . The incumbent would be joining Caterpillar's Autonomy and Automation IT team and would Expect to design, architect and deliver sophisticated solutions for the Autonomy and Automation (A&A) team.
The preference for this role is to be based out of Chennai - Brigade World Trade Center
What you will do

  • Successfully lead, design, architect and deliver sophisticated solutions for the Autonomy and Automation (A&A) team including Cloud (AWS, Azure), software engineering DevOps solutions (GitHub, ADO) and Infrastructure as a Code architectures (containers)
  • Provide advice and guidance to other site engineers regarding technical and design decisions and well as evaluation, and facilitation for the development of current and future architecture.
  • Design for both functional and non-functional qualities, including availability, resiliency, security, privacy, etc.
  • Review, advise, and provide assessments on architectures produced within and outside the team.
  • Lead the end-to-end solution design and architecture for key company initiatives.
  • Deliver architecture and innovative ideas to executive leadership for the purposes of alignment and key decision making
  • Designing and implementing highly scalable and reliable systems using Kubernetes
  • Creating and maintaining the architecture for Kubernetes solutions, taking into account the specific needs and constraints of the organization
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines Leading the deployment and troubleshooting of Kubernetes clusters
  • Ensuring security and compliance requirements are met within the Kubernetes environment


What you will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure and/or software development, with special emphasis in areas of networking, application services, and distributed computing
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership or lead developer role
  • Practical experience in cloud computing architecture work, systems or application design, and development including container technologies
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing IT solutions including Cloud (AWS and/or Azure)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security Proven experience with DevOps pipeline architecture, deployment, and tools and/or Web App development
  • Experience with tools similar to Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Grafana, InfluxDB, SonarQube, Jupyter Notebook, OpenCV, Bamboo, PostgreSQL, BitBucket, Robot Framework, Conan
  • Experience in Git, Python, Typescript/Javascript preferred


Experience with containers preferred

  • Experience with Linux environments, preferably Ubuntu Proven track record as a technical lead and mentor to other network engineers
    Excellent written/oral communication skills for management reports and presentations
  • Diplomatic ability to influence others and mix with all levels of the business
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders
  • Understanding of NIST framework and control audits
  • Ability to competently mediate disagreements and negotiate agreeable resolutions


Preferred Experience

  • Experience using the Scaled Agile Framework (SaFE) methodology
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Azure DevOps, Git Actions and/or Jenkins
  • Experience with the CLI, PowerShell cmdlets, and/or REST APIs.
  • Experience working with corporate security on infrastructure or applications security compliance and remediation activities (ie: Risk Acceptance, Security Configuration Baseline)

Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
Level Extensive Experience: • Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients. • Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems. • Explains features and benefits of core applications for consideration by business units. • Implements existing and planned application enhancements in major business units. • Tracks data flow between own applications and core applications in other business areas. • Plans enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.
Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Working Knowledge: • Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance. • Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions. • Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns. • Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand. • Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions.
Technical Excellence : Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Level Working Knowledge: • Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues. • Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up-to-date on technical and procedural job components. • Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies and services. • Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence. • Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.
Software Product Design/Architecture : Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
Level Extensive Experience: • Demonstrates experience with the architecture and design of major or multiple products. • Describes major software architecture alternatives and considerations. • Explains design considerations for commercial database systems, operating systems and web. • Displays experience in estimating the cost of a specific design of a proposed product. • Facilitates design reviews and walkthroughs. • Analyzes benefits and drawbacks of specific software designs and architecture.
