Manage on-premises IT infrastructure, including Cisco networking, FortiGate firewalls, virtualization, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, monitoring, backups, and security controls. Lead the IT support and infrastructure teams, enforce ITIL service processes, oversee incident response and root cause analysis, manage vendors and assets, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Support ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance through audits, vulnerability remediation, access reviews, and security improvements.
IT Manager
We are looking for a hands-on, process-driven IT
Manager to oversee on-premises IT infrastructure, endpoint management,
security, and monitoring. The role involves ensuring a secure and stable IT
environment, leading the IT support team, managing IT service processes in line
with ITIL standards, and serving as the final escalation point for
infrastructure incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network
Infrastructure Management: Administer
and maintain the Cisco switches, including IOS/IOS XE configuration, firmware
upgrades, and configuration backups. Own the VLAN design for VLAN 10 to VLAN
70: trunking, inter-VLAN routing, Spanning Tree, port security, and
access-layer port assignments. Maintain accurate network diagrams, IP address
plans, and VLAN documentation.
- Firewall
& Perimeter Security: Manage the
FortiGate firewall: security policies, NAT, inter-VLAN and internet access
rules, IPsec/SSL VPN, IPS, web and application filtering, and logging. Plan and
apply FortiOS firmware updates on mature releases, and review firewall rules
regularly to remove unused or overly permissive access.
- Server
Virtualization: Manage the
virtualization environment, including resource allocation, storage, performance
monitoring, patching, and platform upgrades, ensuring stability and minimal
downtime.
- Endpoint
Management: Own the full
device lifecycle in Microsoft Intune: enrollment (including Windows Autopilot),
compliance and configuration profiles, application deployment, Windows Update
rings, BitLocker encryption, and remote wipe or retire. Keep the device estate
compliant, patched, and secure.
- Infrastructure
Monitoring: Manage IT
infrastructure monitoring, configure alerts and dashboards, optimize monitoring
performance, and use availability and capacity reports to support proactive
issue resolution and reliable IT operations.
- Directory
Services & User Administration: Manage
Active Directory (users, groups, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP) and Microsoft 365
user and license administration. Run joiner, mover, and leaver processes and
periodic access reviews.
- Service
Delivery & Team Leadership: Lead,
mentor, and coordinate the IT service desk and infrastructure support team.
Enforce ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change, and request management so SLAs
are met and end users get consistent, high-quality support.
- System
Reliability & Incident Response: Act
as the primary escalation point for critical infrastructure incidents across
network, firewall, servers, and endpoints. Lead troubleshooting, restoration,
and root cause analysis, and make sure preventive actions are implemented and
documented.
- Backup,
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery: Run and verify routine backups of virtual machines, servers, and network
device configurations. Develop, test, and maintain Business Continuity (BCP)
and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, including scheduled restore tests.
- Security
Operations & Compliance: Administer
security controls including MFA, patch management, endpoint protection,
intrusion prevention, and network segmentation. Support compliance efforts (ISO
27001, SOC 2) through security audits, vulnerability remediation, and access
control reviews
- Vendor &
Asset Management: Manage
relationships with hardware suppliers, software vendors, ISPs, and support
partners (including Cisco and Fortinet support contracts). Oversee IT
procurement, hardware lifecycle and warranty tracking, software licensing, and
IT operating expense (OpEx) tracking.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 12+ years of
progressive IT infrastructure experience, including at least 4 years leading IT
operations or support teams.
- Strong
understanding of networking, server administration, virtualization, endpoint
management, and IT security.
- Strong analytical
and problem-solving skills, calm crisis management, and the ability to
prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent
communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership abilities.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene
To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
