Job Responsibilities:
Summary of Responsibilities
Position involves the operation of ride on Zamboni style cleaning machine, and performing of custodial work in industrial areas and other facility areas as needed in a safe and efficient manner.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and essential duties required to successfully perform this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • All work will be performed with safety in mind of yourself, coworkers and equipment at all times
  • To work within guidelines of the company rules and guidelines to comply with MIOSHA standards
  • To maintain the equipment and work area in a clean and organized manner
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines
  • Performs activities in support of spill prevention, control and countermeasures
  • Contains spills in all facility areas
  • Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light bulbs and fixtures
  • Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas
  • Removes waste from trash receptacles throughout facility and exterior areas and transports to exterior dumpsters
  • Remove debris from outside areas of building and lot
  • Assist with cleaning equipment, when needed
  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Notify supervisors concerning need for repairs or additions to building operating systems
  • May also sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
  • Maintain the professional appearance of the industrial area and other facility areas as needed
  • Collect and recycle oil and fluids from machinery throughout the facility
  • Perform routine maintenance and/or PM's on equipment as assigned
  • To have the ability to work weekends and over time as requested
  • To have clear and open communications with peers and supervision in an efficient and courteous way
  • Assist in other production areas as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Clean common areas including bathroom, locker room, cafeteria, offices, and plant floor.
  • Operate mobile equipment (forklift, floor scrubber)

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in janitorial roles including but not limited to custodial work, buildings and grounds, etc.
  • Prior experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Able to read, write and speak English without the aid of a translator
  • Able and willing to stand throughout a shift
  • On-site attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Working with safety in mind at all time
  • Basic mechanical skills and use of hand tools
  • Basic PC knowledge would be helpful
  • Ability to learn and retain information quickly
  • Walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting over 50 pounds
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions

Education and Experience Required
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred

Work Environment
  • Includes office and manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers
  • Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
  • Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
