Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Oracle Certified Expert with approximately 10 years of hands-on experience as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), High Availability (HA), and Business Continuity (BC) options for Oracle databases. In addition to a deep understanding of traditional Oracle Database administration, the candidate should possess expertise in cloud environments, particularly AWS, and the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Ansible. The role demands strong leadership capabilities, with a proven track record of supporting 24/7 VLDB (Very Large Database) production environments and driving projects in high-availability configurations, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance drills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration & Operations:
- Administer and support Oracle Databases (11g and above) in UNIX/Linux environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Handle day-to-day operations and long-term maintenance of VLDB production environments (>10TB), ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to SLAs.
- Provide expert-level support for Oracle RAC/ASM, High Availability (HA), DataGuard, and Backup & Recovery (RMAN).
- Cloud & Infrastructure Management:
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle Databases on AWS environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Lead the migration and management of Oracle databases in cloud environments, ensuring smooth deployments and operational excellence.
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for database deployment, configuration, and management, automating repetitive tasks and streamlining database operations.
- Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery:
- Implement and manage Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including DataGuard for high availability in public cloud environments.
- Plan and perform critical BC/DR drills in compliance with regulatory norms.
- Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage database administration teams during the build phase and ongoing managed services.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, line of business (LOB) owners, and external teams to ensure smooth database operations and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, offering technical solutions and progress reports as needed.
- Security & Performance Tuning:
- Ensure database security by applying security patches (CPU/PSU) and adhering to best practices.
- Lead efforts in database tuning, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting database issues to meet high standards of performance.
- Technical Planning & Documentation:
- Gather customer requirements and translate them into efficient database architectures and structures.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, operational procedures, and security policies.
- Plan and execute regular patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management, ensuring databases are on the latest versions and technologies.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Experience & Expertise:
- 10+ years of experience as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with a deep understanding of Oracle Database technologies (11g and higher).
- Extensive experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, DataGuard, RMAN, and other high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and managing Oracle databases in cloud environments.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, especially Ansible, for automating database deployment and management.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and shell programming.
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control, Oracle EMS, and database security tools.
- Expertise in database lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Advanced performance tuning skills using Segment and SQL TRACE facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle Certified Expert certification or equivalent.
- Experience in high availability/maximum availability architecture (MAA) using DataGuard.
- Familiarity with database monitoring and tuning tools in the cloud environment.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a 24/7 production support environment.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside regular business hours for system maintenance, patching, or migration tasks.
