About the team:
You will be a part of the AI team, which is responsible for developing AI features at Helpshift.
The AI team has built product features like User Intent Detection, AI-Powered Answers,
Agent CoPilot features, etc by building our own ML models and leveraging generative AI.
The team consists of Backend and Frontend Developers, Full-stack Developers, ML
Engineers and Data Scientists.
About the role:
We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a passion for Artificial Intelligence and a knack
for leadership. In this role, you'll be instrumental in shaping our AI products, leading a group
of engineers within the team, and driving the successful delivery of innovative solutions.
You'll blend deep technical expertise in AI with strong leadership skills, guiding a team of
full-stack, backend, and frontend developers. You'll be responsible for the end-to-end
delivery of AI-powered features and products, from conceptualization and design to
deployment and optimization.
What you'll do:
Lead and mentor a group of backend, and frontend developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Drive the technical vision and strategy for AI initiatives within your squad, ensuring alignment with overall product goals.
Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable AI models and systems.
Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, ML engineers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Oversee the full software development lifecycle for your squad, ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and bring innovative ideas to the team.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the stability and performance of our AI systems.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement, driving efficiency and innovation within your squad.
What you'll bring:
6-8 years of experience in software development, with at least 3-4 years focused on AI/Machine Learning.
1-2 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably leading a cross-functional development team.
Strong proficiency in any language to build servers at large scale and relevant AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
Good understanding of machine learning algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices.
Proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, Go, Python, Kafka) and database systems (SQL/NoSQL).
Familiarity with frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
A strong track record of delivering complex technical projects on time and with high quality.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a
related field.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of agile methodologies.
Contributions to open-source projects.
Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Knowledge of functional programming is a plus (We use Clojure).
