As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell, you will lead and oversee the mechanical design process, ensuring the development of innovative and efficient mechanical solutions for our products and systems.

Responsibilities

Provide industry‑leading metallurgical expertise to support reliable unit operation and drive new innovations across the refining, petrochemical, and gas processing industries. As a key member of the Skills Group, you will apply your metallurgy knowledge and leadership to material selection, unit troubleshooting (including failure analysis and materials testing), and the development of new processes and equipment. You will serve as a recognized technical expert within your discipline, and interface directly with global customers and vendors.

  • Partner with industry experts to diagnose and resolve complex metallurgical and corrosion challenges.
  • Lead material selection and corrosion control decisions for new designs, revamps, and operating units.
  • Conduct hands‑on troubleshooting including field inspections, unit walkdowns, and on‑site failure investigations.
  • Perform and interpret failure analyses including metallography, hardness testing, and materials characterization.
  • Support development of new processes and equipment through materials testing and technical evaluation.
  • Contribute to corporate and industry standards through participation in NACE/AMPP, API, and ASME committees.
  • Provide technical mentorship to early‑career engineers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Engage with global customers to deliver technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, and strengthen long‑term relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Engineering, or related field.
  • 10-15 years minimum experience within the refining, petrochemical, or gas processing or energy industry.
