Job Title: LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER

The Purpose of This Role

A career in Associate Desktop Experience (ADE) in Fidelity's Wealth Management group may be right for you! 

We are seeking a Software Engineer to build the Associates’ advisory planning use-cases applications in the Associate Desktop Experience (ADE) platform. In this role, you will build and modernize/maintain the API layer used to communicate with our varied source systems. You will also apply a variety of cloud-native technologies to develop pipelines to inject and publish data from and to other teams. This position is a critical element to delivering Fidelity’s promise of creating the best customer experiences in financial services.  

The Value You Deliver 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) with minimum 3 years’ experience in the IT industry  
  • Desire and ability to learn and implement new technologies. 
  • Keen ability to see complex challenges from multiple perspectives and leaning in to solve independently or with others. 
  • Proven experience designing and writing microservices with Java. 
  • Knowledge of how to develop highly scalable distributed systems using Open-Source technologies. 
  • Experience in managing high volume customer-facing application traffic for API’s 
  • Ability to validate, monitor, and solve issues during development, testing, or in production. 
  • Ability to work effectively in global teams distributed across geographic locations in an Agile way. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both through written and verbal channels. 
  • Excellent facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills. 

The Skills that are Key to this role 

Technical / Behavioral 

  • Experience in developing Restful API microservices using Spring-Boot
  • Experience in integrating API to databases like - Relational Databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.) or NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Elastic search, Graph DB, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk.
  • Must be ready to be on-call rotation to support the applications.
  • Experience with DevOps or CI/CD Pipelines using Maven, Jenkins, etc. 
  • Experience in AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Proven knowledge of AWS via Associate, Professional, or Specialty Certification(s) a big plus 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce platform will be desirable. 
  • Critical thinking and the ability to work in an agile environment
  • You will need to demonstrate the ability to recognize the urgency of issues and take appropriate steps to mitigate risks. 

The Skills that are Good To Have for this role 

  • Experience in Salesforce APEX development
  • Ability to effectively articulate and present ideas / technical design to appropriate audience. 

How Your Work Impacts the Organization 

You will be joining the Associates’ advisory planning use-cases applications in the Associate Desktop Experience (ADE) platform team with the vision to create the frameworks and pipelines necessary to build a cloud-ready platform and to optimize core capabilities that will enable scalability, efficiency, and speed-to-market for adding new features to the platform. ADE is a critical platform to Fidelity Wealth Management and the impacts delivered via the work that the Platform team does will significantly enable our business partners across the firm to deliver on Fidelity’s promise of creating the best customer experiences in financial services.
