The Lead Wireless Systems Engineer will evaluate silicon performance, validate physical layer standards, analyze performance gaps, and collaborate on hardware implementations for NXP's connectivity solutions.
NXP’s Wireless Connectivity DSP team plays a pivotal role in shaping the system-level performance and optimization of next-generation WLAN and Narrowband (Bluetooth and IEEE 802.15.4) transceivers. This team drives cross-layer tuning, PHY algorithm development, digital verification, and silicon bring-up for NXP’s connectivity solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate post-tapeout silicon performance in both cabled and over-the-air (OTA) environments, focusing on PHY metrics
- Initial validation of new physical layer standards/features and enhancements
- Analyze bring-up data, identify root causes of performance gaps, and propose design enhancements by applying wireless communications theory concepts
- Build system-level models and conduct simulations using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB to characterize/improve PHY behavior and performance
- Collaborate with design teams to translate algorithmic concepts into efficient hardware implementations, develop design-level workarounds, and support verification and validation activities
Qualifications:
- M.S./M.Tech in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a focus on wireless communications or signal processing
- 10+ years of industry experience in wireless systems, signal processing, or related domains
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with effective communication abilities
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., VSA/VSG) and lab setup
- Familiarity with wireless standards such as IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4, LTE, and mmWave
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages
- Progressive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
