About the role
An exciting new opportunity has become available to join our Integrated Portfolio Planning division. As the Manager – Market Modelling, you will lead the development and delivery of AGL’s market modelling capability to provide robust, data-driven insights into electricity, gas and environmental markets. This role ensures accurate price forecasts, scenario analysis and modelling frameworks that inform trading strategies, portfolio optimisation and long-term planning.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and maintain short and long-term market models for the national electricity (NEM) and gas markets.
- Produce price and volatility forecasts to inform trading, hedging and asset planning.
- Enhance modelling methodologies and tools, champion automation and data integrity.
- Provide scenario analysis and sensitivities for strategic planning and investment cases.
- Manage and develop a team of analysts; build technical capability and succession
readiness. - Foster collaboration across broader IPP teams for integrated portfolio insights.
About You
You are an established leader or a senior professional in the energy industry ready to take the next career step. You will ideally have qualifications a quantitative discipline and relevant experience in energy trading. Your expertise in energy market modelling & forecasting will set you up for success in this role.
In addition to the above, you will have
- Advanced quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in modelling tools and statistical
software. - Deep understanding of NEM operations, gas markets and environmental product schemes is desirable.
- Ability to translate modelling outputs into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work across functions.
