Mainframe Systems Programming Management - Managers
Plans and organizes the lifecycle management of IBM Mainframe Operating System and major subsystems Provide technical support on software/systems programming and operating system capabilities for the data processing facility to assure the interfacing of software systems with hardware configuration and applications system requirements Establishes systems programming standards and program documentation requirements Provides technical guidance on operating system problems Recommends system improvements, monitors design progress, and prepares design project reports Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
Qualifications
- Knowledge in your area of discipline
- Working knowledge of IBM Mainframe Operating systems (zOS, zVM, zLinux) & Major Subsystems (DB2, IMS, CICS, MQ, WAS) and ISV Software products
- Technical Delivery Management
- Stakeholder management (internal clients – account teams & external clients)
- People management including career development
- Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Project
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentations)
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide thought leadership within assigned tower and Business Unit
- Provides Technical support for SW solutions\
- Provide direction to Team Leaders and associates
- Possess communication skills to participate in client/team/Business unit meetings as well as providing documentation for client operational meetings
- Conduct Regular 1x1 meetings with reporting associates to work closely on the career aspirations and development without impacting the team deliverables
- Set quarterly and yearly goals, aligning to the Business Unit and Company
- Hiring and Training of new associates
- Enhance the performance of reporting associates with regular feedback and through mentoring
- Keep abreast of changes in the standards, technologies or methodologies
- Manage team’s ticket queue and following up on aging tickets
- Provide risk assessment and risk management
- Administer bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly review(s)
- Review assignments for accuracy and quality where applicable
- Delegate responsibilities where applicable
- Facilitate or coordination of software releases/upgrades or large projects
- Attend/facilitate client/team meetings where applicable
- Collaboration with other departments
- Drive Strategic Initiatives (Automation, productivity improvement etc.,) and ensure active participation from the team.
