The Area: Morningstar is the leading provider of fund research in India and offers independent, trusted information and analysis. Our objective, fundamentals-based approach is supplemented by our fund management knowledge, global research resources, and extensive investment databases. Institutions, advisers, and individual investors can access Morningstar fund research through insightful reports and targeted consulting services.
The Role: Morningstar Fund Research has a requirement for a Research Analyst to play a key role in researching fund managers and in writing research reports. Our goal is to help investors make more informed investment decisions by providing independent and objective recommendations. This position is based in our Mumbai office.
Key Responsibilities:
+ To research and critically assess India domiciled fund strategies based on Morningstar's qualitative research framework
+ Communicate our research view to investors via the assignment of ratings and writing succinct and reader friendly research reports.
+ To play a key role in preparing for and running fund manager interviews
+ Write longer research pieces, demonstrating thought leadership
+ Contribute research pieces towards the Morningstar website as well as other regular research publications.
+ Engage with the media to build and support the Morningstar brand
+ Coordinate with data operations to ensure required data and methodologies are in place to support products
+ Help shape Morningstar methodologies
+ To manage ad-hoc analytical assignments on investments, managed funds and products
+ To undertake other administrative, research and/or analytical work as required
Requirements:
+ Independent, experienced fund researcher (at least 4 years of analytical experience) who is familiar with modern finance and investment theory, as well as the investment landscape in India
+ Able to work within an interdisciplinary team that includes investment experts, qualitative researchers, data analysts, and software developers
+ Superior oral and written communication skills
+ Excellent time management skills.
+ Skilled with PC and mainstream software packages. Experience with Morningstar Direct an advantage
+ Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised together with the ability to prioritise effectively and work in a
methodical manner to meet deadlines.
+ Proactive aptitude to building effective internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and acting as a
representative of Morningstar
+ Strong attention to detail
+ A keen knowledge of financial markets that has been developed both personally and professionally
+ Bachelor`s or master`s degree; advanced degrees and certifications are desirable
+CFA designation or enrollment is an asset
