The Manager, SAP Application Development will be responsible for providing pivotal hands-on expertise in the design, development and deployment of enterprise reporting and analytical technologies and products within Pfizer's ERP BI Business Intelligence system. This can also involve leading teams of 5-7 contracted resources (software developers and technical staff) in application development, ensuring delivery of first-class digital products to Pfizer.
In this role, we are looking for a skilled colleague with technical knowledge and experience with SAP BW, SAP HANA and SQL, software services for data management, and cloud-based technologies.
Pfizer is undergoing a significant transformation in the areas of enterprise data warehousing, data analytics and reporting technologies for SAP. Pfizer has an extensive SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) system with Business Objects (BOBJ) and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) user interfaces. The Manager should have familiarity with these systems, in order to develop and drive the complex transition toward innovative solutions and processes for the SAP Analytics Enablement organization.
In addition, the Manager will partner with support and operations teams to deploy new and updated business intelligence solutions.
What You Will Achieve
  • Drive the development and enhancement of Pfizer's SAP Analytics systems, leading hands-on initiatives to deliver cutting-edge digital solutions and fostering innovation throughout the application lifecycle
  • Define and set objectives for the vendor application team's operations, prioritizing resources and planning/deploying solution deliverables to support business requirements
  • Provide technical and application knowledge leadership to the members of the vendor application development team, leveraging technical and functional expertise across multiple disciplines
  • Partner with support and operations teams to share knowledge of Pfizer's new technologies and processes; both to define and implement support requirements and to manage the transition of products and solutions to long-term operations support.
  • Take well-managed risks while ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance related to software development, enhancements, documentation and change management

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in technical discipline (computer science, engineering, etc.)
  • 4+ years (2+ years with MBA/MS) of experience in information technology, analytics, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with SAP HANA, modeling and SQL skills, and SAP BW including data modeling, transformations, and technology roadmap
  • Knowledge of SAP reporting tools: Business Objects - Web Intelligence, Analysis for OLAP and Analysis for Office; SAP Business Explorer query designer, SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Process-oriented with strong organization, project management experience and coordination skills
  • Experience in working with or managing teams of vendors and contracted resources, in remote/virtual capacity
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate broadly across functions & the global organization.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Experience with Data Wrangling tools such as Dataiku & Alteryx are nice to have but not required
  • Knowledge of SAP BDC including Datasphere and Databricks are nice to have but not required
