The Manager of Software Engineering will lead technical and people initiatives, overseeing software development, fostering team growth, and ensuring quality deliverables while championing agile practices.
Job Description:
- Technical Leadership & Hands-on Contribution: Serve as a highly technical, hands-on software engineer, dedicating significant time (at least 50%) to coding, design, prototyping, and providing technical guidance on innovative technology solutions.
- People Leadership & Talent Development: Recruit, coach, inspire, and develop team members, fostering a high-performing, engaged, and collaborative team environment; actively participate in career development, talent management, onboarding, and mentoring.
- Engineering Culture & Craftsmanship: Champion a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation; promote high standards of professionalism and craftsmanship within the team.
- Setting Accountability & Alignment: Lead by example, ensuring all team members are aligned with the company’s mission and goals, and take ownership of their deliverables and professional development.
- Subject Matter Expertise & Strategic Influence: Act as a technical expert who can contribute meaningfully in technical discussions, provide strategic direction for engineering decisions, and bring in additional expertise when required.
- Cross-functional Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration: Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders—including other engineering teams, product management, QA, and business leaders—to drive alignment and successful delivery.
- Code Quality & Review Processes: Oversee design and code reviews, ensuring robust analysis of code components, high code coverage with thorough unit testing, and adherence to best engineering practices.
- Agile Practices & Delivery Management: Champion agile software development practices, coordinating execution and deliverables, setting and monitoring OKRs, and ensuring projects are completed on time to high standards.
- Product Partnership & Customer Focus: Partner closely with product teams to balance customer needs with scalable, maintainable solutions; inspire innovation and top performance with a customer-centric mindset.
- Continuous Improvement & Organizational Evolution: Engage actively in the functional area’s evolution, facilitating process improvements, participating in leadership training, implementing people processes, and supporting company-wide goals.
- Team Engagement & Professional Excellence: Maintain a highly engaged, productive team climate, measuring and improving team satisfaction, modeling strong communication skills, ownership, and adapting to new software and industry trends.
