Manufacturing Process Engineer – Machining
The
Manufacturing Process Engineer – Machined Components is responsible for
developing, optimizing, and sustaining machining and allied manufacturing
processes across supply chain.
Process Development & Optimization
• Develop, document, and
release machining process plans, operation sheets, and control plans for new
and existing components.
• Define cutting parameters
(speeds, feeds, depths of cut) and tooling strategies to optimize cycle time,
tool life, and surface finish
• Evaluate and qualify
cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and coolant systems from domestic and global
tooling suppliers
• Drive OEE improvement, and
cost-per-piece reduction.
• Establish standard
operating procedures (SOPs) and visual work instructions in English and Tamil
as applicable.
CNC Programming & Tooling
• Create and optimize CNC
programs using CAM software (Master cam, Siemens NX CAM, EdgeCAM or equivalent)
for turning, milling, and mill-turn centers.
• Establish and maintain tool
libraries, offset sheets, and setup documentation for VMC, HMC, CNC lathe, and
SPM platforms.
• Support machine operators
and setter-operators during first article runs and process qualification.
• Manage tooling inventory
standards and negotiate tooling and consumable contracts with Coimbatore-based
distributors and direct suppliers.
Capital Equipment & Layout
• Prepare capital
justifications (ROI, payback analysis) for new CNC machine tools, SPMs, and
automation cells; liaise with Indian OEM vendors
• Lead machine installation,
geometric accuracy checks, machine run-off, and capability acceptance.
• Support plant-layout
improvements and material-flow optimization projects.
Cross-Functional & Customer Support
• Provide DFM (Design for
Manufacturability) feedback during concept and development phases for OEM and
export customers.
• Support cost estimating and
quoting for machined components in domestic and export supply chains.
• Train and mentor ITI /
Diploma operators, setter-operators, and junior engineers on machining best
practices and safety.
• Interface with customer
plants (Chennai, Pune, NCR, and export destinations) on process capability and
part qualification.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.
Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing
Engineering from a recognized university
• 4–8 years of hands-on
experience in a CNC machining / precision engineering manufacturing
environment.
• Proficiency with CAM
software (Master cam, NX CAM, EdgeCAM, or similar) and ability to write / edit
G-code.
• Strong working knowledge of
GD&T
• Working knowledge of 2D/3D
CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD).
