About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Manager, Media Relations to lead the development, delivery and day‑to‑day execution of media strategies across AGL’s Energy Assets and Energy Markets & Development business units. You’ll play a key role in shaping AGL’s media presence, supporting senior executives, and managing both proactive opportunities and emerging issues.
You will also play a key role in supporting the Senior Media Manager with corporate-level media engagements and milestones such as annual results, AGM and other corporate media opportunities. This role will also provide on-call media support on a rotating basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop and implement media strategies and Executive Engagement Plans that generate meaningful earned media and align with AGL’s business priorities.
Build and activate strong relationships with media, including local, regional and Tier 1 national outlets, while proactively identifying opportunities and managing reactive issues.
Partner with C‑suite and senior stakeholders as a trusted media adviser, providing counsel across projects, topics and issues including operational, regulatory and safety‑related matters.
Generate positive earned media for AGL’s Energy Assets and Energy Markets and Development business units, that support the overall business strategy.
What You’ll Bring
Extensive media relations experience with strong written communication and speechwriting capability, ideally within an ASX‑listed or large, complex organisation.
Proven ability to manage issues and crisis communication, navigate complex stakeholder environments and collaborate across Corporate Affairs functions.
A proactive, detail‑driven and outcomes‑focused approach, with strong project management skills and the ability to deliver quality work to tight deadlines.
A strong track record of managing media relationships and activating them for the benefit of the company
