Description and Requirements
Support the MIM Finance organization in the area of billing, finance, accounting and reporting activities for MetLife's Investment Management business. Specific areas of responsibility include - Financial reporting, Financial close, Treasury / Cash Management and Expense reporting. The associate is responsible for accounting, analytics, reporting, and data management supporting MIM's asset management business. Associate will support MIM Controller's team on a daily basis with various tasks. The associate will work in an environment that fosters a continuous improvement mindset to improve core processes, accelerate close & reporting schedules and balance workloads. Also provide analysis to support for Revenue by account and by client and US GAAP.
Monthly / Quarterly Financial Close:

  • Perform monthly and quarterly accounting closing activities
  • Analyzing the operating and financial results and preparing written analytics
  • Design and implement new reports for Controllers and CFOs
  • Lead process improvements to further automate accounting, analytics and reporting
  • Implement new accounting pronouncements or disclosure requirements
  • Review daily bank transactions
  • Prepare/review wires to move funds between MIM accounts
  • Prepare/review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile month end cash balances in Cadency using bank recs as support
  • Liaise with Cash Recon Unit to resolve open items
  • ? Monitor bank statement and identify cash receipts; facilitate processing in PeopleSoft
  • ? Prepare/Review month/quarter close journal entries


Education

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Graduate in Accounting / Commerce


Experience

  • Professional from the Operations with at least 6+ years working experience post qualification. Four years and above experience in financial services accounting/reporting preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills (General and Technical)
  • Exposure to Various Reconciliations type
  • Intercompany Settlements/ Reconciliation
  • US GAAP (Experience in Investments accounting experience a plus)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (macros, pivot tables and advanced formulas)
  • Strong Data management skills
  • Experience with financial reporting systems (PS, Oracle, Hyperion)
  • Skills - Problem Solving/Analytical Ability
  • Strong communication & analytical skills required


Other Requirements

  • Candidate should be well versed with accounting packages. Knowledge of People Soft, Hyperion, Revport etc. will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles and its application in the process is preferred
  • Proficiency with Alteryx (preferred)
