Job Responsibilities:
WORLD CLASS MANUFACTURING
- Work with GM's/AGM's and Divisions to implement WCM
- Assist in assessing Capacity Utilization across all facilities
- Assist in the Tracking of Divisional Performance
- Assist in developing and implementing Action Plans
- Leads long-term projects aimed at waste elimination/production efficiencies and establishment of model WCM areas in conjunction with manufacturing sites (e.g. plant floor layout, material-handling routes, service parts, and key future launches).
- Helps divisional leaders prepare for MAFACT audit assessments to ensure success.
- Leads employee classes related to MPS/WCM including, but not limited to, job instruction, standardized work, and Kaizen.
- Work with Human Resources to coordinate/support divisional needs for training in WCM systems/tools
- Mentor/Train next level of WCM experts (Building bench strength to support company growth)
- Facilitates continuous improvement project teams to continuously improve processes and give support to areas within the organization.
- Displays a positive approach to the continuous improvement of Dortec Industries and keeps current with new products, processes, materials and equipment technologies
- Division support for short term trouble shooting
- Support and evaluate major launches
- Conduct internal MAFACT Assessments and create an improvement plan.
- Lead LEAN Capex Review for new projects and prepare it for approval by the Director of Operations.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (CI)
- Cultivate a culture of employee involvement by promoting collaborative problem-solving and transparent communication at all organizational levels.
- Evaluate employee suggestions for feasibility, prioritize actionable items, and ensure timely execution of daily improvement tasks.
- Champion CI initiatives by empowering staff to identify inefficiencies, implement practical and long-lasting solutions
MAGNA'S QUALITY SYSTEM
- Successfully coordinate MQS within Dortec Industries' quality systems
- Mentor and teach other operations, quality and manufacturing personnel on the MQS
- Develops, maintains and continuously improves MQS policies and procedures curated to Dortec Industries' needs
- Participate in the development of shop floor procedures to ensure that defined corrective actions are permanent;
- Provide support to Quality Department leadership to allow for increased focus on problem resolution
- Benchmark Dortec Industries' quality practices against those of other automotive suppliers with the goal of continuous improvement;
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
- Direct supervision of incumbents and/or work units/departments.
- Provide functional or technical guidance and/or informal training or instruction to co-workers.
- Occasionally coordinates the work of others including the assignment of tasks to employees, co-workers and/or volunteers.
- Directs the work to be completed and responsible for the supervision of the continuous improvement workers.
GENERAL
- Upholds the principles of the Magna Employee's Charter, Magna's Operational Principles, Magna's Environmental Health and Safety Policy & Procedures, Magna Closures, Mirrors, and Lighting Quality Policy, Program Execution Process and Business Protocols. Must understand and respect the laws and cultures in countries which Magna conducts business & Magna compliances.
- Support the divisions GM, AGM or plant manager in the achievement of the divisions financial and operational objectives.
- Ensure that all safety requirements are being carried out when performing duties.
- Ensure that all environmental requirements are identified and addressed when performing duties.
- Comply with defined Business Management and Environmental Management Systems requirements.
- Provide support in the attainment of Dortec Industries' operating system goals as outlined by the key graphs.
- Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate.
Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline is preferred;
- Minimum 1-2 years automotive manufacturing required;
- Strong communication skills are required;
- Knowledge of Lean concepts, KAIZEN, 5S, TPM, project management required;
- Previous experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement is preferred;
- Attention to detail is key to ensure that customer needs and requirements are met and exceeded.
- The position requires an individual capable of working independently or within a team.
